Her Story

Mortal life:

There is alot I do not remember, or perhaps I do not chose to remember. I do not remember my mortal name, but I remember my parents and my life with them. I remember where I lived and what I was like before part of my soul was stolen and replaced.

I was born in 1983, my parents where upper middle class. They where a very serious always keeping their feet on the ground, very christian. I on the other hand, while got decent grades in school, was a bit of a dreamer. I loved to read, I loved to write and secretly I loved the occult, and the myths around the occult. My favorite was the fae, so cruel in some books and so kind in other.

In 1999, I started to offer bread and milk on my window ceil to honor the fae, I had in a sense fallen in love with them and often wished that a fae prince would rescue me from my humdrum life. Little did I know my offerings had caught the attention of the fae, and they watched me.I started to have dreams of a unearthly beautiful man, who would speak to me, I felt him calling to me. And when I woke I would feel so hallow, and wanted to only dream of my prince..but between school and the beauty pageant's my parents insisted I was in, I was not allowed to sleep as often as I wanted, so I started to day dream about it, about him coming to take me away.

Though it all I was watched, and then one night as read a story about a changeling, my mother came into the room to see if I was studying and looked at the book in my hands. She snatched it from me and looked it over, then with cruelty in her voice she said "If such things where real, then obviously my daughter is with them, and i am stuck with you"

As she left the room I heard a slight cackle at the window, and I turned to see something..It appeared to be tree like, and put out its hand to me saying "come with me , escape this world. The one you dream of calls to you." I climbed out the window and it took my hand, and lead me into a hedge that tore at me, little by little it tore at me. "A small price you pay for what you have wished for " the tree thing said to me.

Life in Arcadia:

I remember it more vivid then anything in the real world. More alive. I was escorted to my keeper, I recall his face in my dreams, nightmares now. What he called his sister sat in the room with him and laughed as he looked me over, already the kindness that had been in my dreams where shown to be untrue. He inspected me like one would a horse, my dimensions. He looked back over at the woman and said "she will do, in time she will fill out, until then she can be trained." He motioned to the tree thing "take her to where she can sleep" I was taken outside, through snow and lead to very beautiful , large ivory ..I don't know how to explain it, but I thought it was like a aviary, as there where so many flowers that wrapped around the ivory, grass on the floor, roses lined the inside and there was a very large flower that unfolded in front of me as if to welcome me to bed. I crawled up into it and slept, snow fell against my skin and i wondered if this was the faes way of testing me. I curled into a ball and shivered.

I felt as if I was being watched and I opened my eyes and looked up, but saw no one. Suddenly the wind blew through the cage, for that is what it was and I would learn that soon enough, blowing all the snow out and leaving it warm. She smiled and lay down to sleep.

The next two years I was kept in the ivory cage, to study. To learn how to walk properly, talk..When she was allowed out, a treat when she learned something. He lead her around by a silver chain on her wrist. He was teaching her how to behave in front of others and how to act in private, she was shown cruelty and kindness.

At 17 was the first time she became his play thing, after he felt she had learned enough for her public face, and now needed to know how to act when they where alone, how to act in his bed., she would be allowed in the house, to wander it on these nights, and when he was through with her, she would be sent to the cage, always the cage. The snow storm always raged around the cage, but never in it. And every time she came back from her keepers bed the snow storm seemed angry.

She started to find messages in the snow when she looked outside the ivory cage, things to think on..she thought perhaps it was just one of those things, like watching a leaf fall upwards to the tree in the land of fairy, until she saw the words created themselves in the snow. She started to talk to it, finally realizing was like she, a captive. Soon she found she had a friend and started to try to work with him to give him form.

Her keeper, she found in time had dealings in hounds, the gladiator pits and the torture of those who would be thrown in the pit, he took her to watch, took her to watch the horrors of the tortures, and then would allow her to sooth them, to give them hope. And in time, she found she liked this, she liked watching the torture she liked watching the pits, she liked soothing them so they would fight for her.

Her keeper , as a treat allowed her near the hounds. She took kindly to one, a white wolf. And treated him as one would treat a beloved pet. He was allowed when she did really good to sleep in the ivory cage with her. When the wolf wasn't with her, she worked with the blizzard to try and help him gain a form. In the third year,

In the third year he snowed into cage and formed, he sat with her that night, and spoke with her with a human voice. It was good to hear the sound of someone she had started to consider a friend. She started to grow infinitely closer to her wolf and her snow man, who she had taken to calling jack.

And still when her keeper kept her inside the storms would rage, angry and she didn't know why. Until one night he formed himself , furious. His anger wasn't towards her, but towards her keeper, he told her. It was that night, that they became lovers, and she realised her 'prince' that she had so dreamt about was not her keeper, but a captive just like her.

They spoke of escaping, and he agreed to help. Secretly, she made it so those who where gladiators could escape, and keep the attention off her. She asked her keeper if she could go with him as he was to let the hounds out to chase after the gladiators, to watch. A grin appeared on his lips and he agreed. He took her to the hedge, and caressed her face as he let the hounds go. He turned his back on her, and she quickly wrapped the silver chain around his neck and pulled tightly, She bent forward as he gasped for air and breathed his scent in, his fear. She smiled as he collapsed, unconscious. She was able to take the silver chain from his hand and turned starting to walk away. Jack was there, and walked with her, as she moved the snow covered their tracks. He reached out and took her hand as they moved, She started to enter the hedge, he stopped her and kissed her. And then informed her he wasn't going.

She looked at him blankly, her eyes filled with tears at the horror of losing someone she loved, she tried to convince him to come, he said he had other things to do, that he wasn't finished. They heard the baying of the hounds, the keeper must have come to and sent the hounds after her. He grabbed her and kissed her again, she tried to pull him into the hedge with her but he let her go. She looked at him with sorry and said 'but I thought you loved me" He gave her a sad look and pushed her through the hedge "run" he said, as he turned away from her, and turned to snow again.

She ran, the thorns tore at her again, trying to keep her in. She could hear the hounds closing behind her, no.. she could hear A hound closing behind her. She was caught on a thorn, trying to pull herself free when the white wolf came towards her. It knews its prey was caught. It paced before her, savoring the moment, drinking in her fear like wine.

"It's me, Antigony. You remember me? How I cared for you; how I soothed you?" she pleaded. The wolf stopped its pacing, staring into her face, her outstretched arm toward it. It was panting, the ever-present frost on its whiskers quickly turning to steam. The wolf lowered its head and edged towards her, sniffing her hand to familiarize itself with the scent. "That's right; I'm a friend. Remember? I cared for you after the pits."

Suddenly the realization set upon the wolf. The pits, the tortures, the hunts; all of it came rushing back. Its ears lowered, a snarl forming as it lunged at her throat. The force of the impact tore her free from the thorns and the two rolled on the ground. His snapping jaws and rending claws had less and less strength behind them the more they rolled. The further from the thorns, she realized.

Fighting for her life, she pushed them further and further towards her goal, towards freedom. When the real world was but a handspan away she was no longer struggling with a wolf, but a strange conglomeration of wolf and man. He pushed away from her suddenly, a look of confusion and horror upon his face. He was staring at his hands, his claws, and her blood upon them. "What has I done?" he asked.

"There's no time; we have to move before more come," she shouted. Grabbing his stunned form, she pulled him along. Looking into the real world, something he had given up years before, he remembered the family he had left behind. The daughter he so needed to see again. Together, they plunged through the border and into the real world once again.

In the distance, the storm watched and was pleased.

Lost:

They came through the hedge together forever changed, She with flowers in her hair and beautiful, he with the features of the wolf. But they also had masks, that the mortals saw.

They had come out of the hedge in 2001, two years after she went in. But she had been in the land of the fae for 8... The former wolf, Nick, took some time to get adjusted to this new world but she helped him through it. Together they tracked down his daughter, though a lot had changed. When he last saw her, she was a mere 4 years old. Now she was in her early thirties, with a family of her own. And he was there, or at least something that looked like he would in a few decades. The proud grandfather and loving father he should have been. Nick turned away in disgust, seething with anger behind his sorrowfilled eyes.

Together they tracked down Antigony's own fetch as well. Her family seemed to go on without her and was happy for it.

They decided to work together, and over time they learned about the courts, and both joined the Autumn court. She became closer and closer to her court, embodying it, so much so that her very presence started to decay the plants around her. Trees would turn gold, red, Orange and green.
