Overview

Alias(es): Aria; operates in the mortal world under the alias of Susan Morgan

Real Name: Sarah Meadows

Age: approximately 27

Concept: Fixer, Negotiator, Diplomat

Entitlement: None. Formerly in the Satrapy of Pearls

Physical description: Well built, strikingly attractive, with long, neatly styled brown hair hanging in waves down her back. Aria holds herself high in company, with a happy and accommodating expression most often on her face. She seems comfortable at conversing with strangers, though a few close friends have discovered this is more from constant practice than natural aptitude. While she typically wears a variety of light greens and blues in her outfits to gatherings, she always wears the same choker necklace of delicate silvers and blacks, chased with beads in green, a choker which seems to have no visible clasp.

Relevant Mechanics: Striking Looks 4; Fame 3 (her Fetch, not her)

Character Information

Known History

Basic Timeline:

May 1979 - Born in Neston, Cheshire.

June 1997 - Taken on the evening of her secondary school Leaver's Ball.

January 1999 - Returned through the Hedge, and, initially horrified at discovering her Fetch's activities in her absence, fled her former home and travelled rough on the streets before reaching Birmingham. Retrived by Toad and Harry, she was offered help getting back on her feet and began working with Harry at his dating agency, before travelling the country for a few years, getting to know her new surroundings.

May 2000 - Is allowed entry to the Satrapy of Pearls, following a several month-long process of investigation and trade to recover an extremely rare first edition book by Augusta Curtiss Huiell, called “How Constance Conquered”, from private ownership, without resorting to simply paying hard cash for it.

2000-2004 - moves to reside permanently in Birmingham, where she swears toThe Freehold of the Moonstones, integrates with the local Changelings, and begins working in the city as a recruitment consultant, while continuing her trading and negotiations withing Changeling society. She spends time trading at Goblin Market at Tomnahurich, where she meets Cormac the Poet, arranging a few profitable exchanges for him.

2005 - Encounters her future motley-mate, Deyanira, while shopping in Birmingham. Initial encounter does not go well, but following an edgy few weeks, the two come to be firm friends, in spite of their differences. Deyanira moves into Aria's home, undertaking cooking responsibilities in return for a room (and saving Aria from her own woeful cooking in the process).

Current Activities:

Resides quietly in Birmingham, though maintains communication with other Freeholds. Known as a pleasant negotiator and general "fixer", who can make arrangements for most things for the right price. Spends some time at the Goblin Market at Tomnahurich when Deyanira trades there. Does her best to stay out of the media spotlight that her Fetch commands. Most recently publically left the Satrapy of Pearls, citing "personal differences" and a change in attitude.

Allies

Cormac the Poet - an odd dynamic between the pair of them. Sometimes they seem to show affection for each other, then at other times they seem to give each other the cold shoulder. There are hints of old deals between the two.

Carin - old friends, moral compass, troublesome pirate, and now fiancee. For all the dancing these two do, they've taken many years to reach the point of using the word 'love' in each other's earshot.

Reeva - a new friendship, and rather more like a sisterly relationship than anything else, Aria is fiercely protective of Reeva and is usually easy to anger if she is upset. They seem to be working together on a new project.

Oscar Cogsgrove - Aria was tutoring the young Oscar, but having left the Satrapy, no-one is too sure where their relationship now stands.

Rosie - Carin's motley mate, and one who some would spitefully refer to as Aria's new "project". Aria has somewhat taken it upon her self (and Deyanira to a lesser extent) to help Rosie adapt to the world she's now a part of again.

Enemies

The Greve of Stolen Lovers - Aria's former Keeper.

Azrious The Seer of Worms was one of the first to seize upon her decision to leave the Satrapy.

Soundtrack

The Chiodos Bros. - Baby, You Wouldn't Last A Minute On The Creek

Dashboard Confessional - As Lovers Go

Alexisonfire - Get Fighted

Straylight Run - Existentialism on Prom Night

Bruce Springsteen - Radio Nowhere

Zella Mayzell - Straight ahead at the end of the court

Green Day - Holiday

Underoath - Reinventing your exit

Funeral for a Friend - Red is the new Black

Ryan Adams - Come pick me up

Take That - Rule the world

Jon McLaughlin - So Close

Quotes

  • "... She just wont leave it alone when it comes to relationships. She's like a bloody mother hen, yeah?" - Steampunk
  • "A remarkable woman, one who will give Sam a run for his money and I personally cannot wait to see her in full bloom. I suppose I will always have a soft spot for the Satrapy." - Witte Wieven
  • "A beautiful woman who has apparantely managed to settle Cormac down somewhat, though since they both seem to have wandering eyes I can only wonder for how long..." - Graceful Aline
  • "If I.. If i had a big sister i wish it was Aria... she helps me with things that I don't understand proper and she's really supportive. I told her my big plan and she didn't tell me that it was silly and i couldn't do it... if i could grow up into a person like Aria I would be SO happy." - Reeva
  • "I don't know her all that well, but...hmmm, let's just say, I kinda wish Sam wasn't the only Satrap who kept trying to get into my pants! I should stop home in Birmingham more often..." - Brawlin' Bram Stoneham
  • Aria? Weeeeelllll.... She's a good girl, and what's not to like? She's a good Satrap and all the competition I have at the moment. Got a new bloke that seems all a little odd, but, hell I ain't one to judge on that front, know what I mean?" Sam
  • "She's a good person to talk to if you've got a problem, and she's very understanding. I'm glad Reeva talks to her. She's lovely." - Arthur MacAodh
  • "Some people are born trouble, some people seek out trouble, and some people have trouble thrust upon them. She manages all three. One reason (Aside from the stunning good looks) to be near her is simply to see what will happen next. Helping her is almost rewarded by the next chapter." - Carin
  • "Aria is very different Spring. It is real shame she not appreciate my style so much, I could show her such a good time." - Zenica
  • "It is a hard thing when someone is yours, and yet not." - Cormac the Poet
  • "Something about Aria makes it hard to be mopey around her. You just get the feeling she knows how to set it all to rights." - Violet Pennyfarthing
  • "Aria?" minimal shrug "She does what Cormac tells her to." - Rea
  • "I cannot say I am surprised to see that she ended up with Carin. I feel bad for Cormac, but it is obvious to look at her to see that she has followed her heart. How could I think badly of her for that?" - Graceful Aline
  • "An astute businesswoman who isn't afraid to make the right bargain at the right time." - Orpheus Bane
  • "The cards say that at present she is a danger, that she would bring ruin through her want to fulfil her own desires. If she survives the attentions of the Fair Folk I would be glad to read for her again. If she survives that is..." Azrious
  • "A diplomat? Really? That dinky little thing? Takes all sorts, I suppose. Helped out during the hard frost with that whole flowering thing, but everything I didn't use died the next day. There's a lesson there, I suppose." Hoffman

Rumors

  • Deyanira has taken to calling her "Bane of plates" due to her somewhat explosive arguments with Carin and the general destruction of crockery that follows.
  • Despite her fondness for romantic comedy and romance films, it is believed that Aria destroyed her DVD player rather than finish watching "Ella Enchanted". It is unclear whether this is due to the poor nature of the adaptation, or for some other reason...
  • Aria has very recently begun taking intensive ballroom and latin dancing lessons, with the muttered comment that there was no way she was going to be outdanced by Steampunk
  • She described being taken to see Enchanted as a "not-date with all the subtlety of a brick to the head". Nonetheless, it seems she very much enjoyed the film, and has been caught humming some of the songs when distracted.
  • She's stated publically that she left the Satrapy because of a disagreement with their tenets, and a change of heart on the issue whether freedom should ever be for sale. It is rumoured the truth lies closer to a catch-22 of conflicting Pledges...
  • She's been heard to mutter about forgetting her rapier when it's come to a fight, having been taking lessons in fencing with Aidan
