I'll hide behind a smile (Description)

Balthazar is a handsome fae; capable of an insatiable appeal or voracious depravity. He appears as a middle aged arrogant individual. You get the impression that he has better things to do and you are simply not worth his time. And then he speaks. And the words that spill from his mouth later will make you believe that he's the reason Henry Rollins wrote Liar. you think you're gonna to live your life alone, in darkness and seclusion. Yeah. I know. You've been out there'.

and then you meet me (Introduction)

Imagine, late one night, you're walking the streets alone. You're in downtown Richmond, VA near the Canal Walk and you've had a bad day. You walk around the walkway and a beautiful Girl or appears before you. Is she crying? Did she just beckon for you? You move forward and she disappears. Was she standing there? You follow where she was You wander around the walk-way and as you continue you stray from the paved cement walkways and into the tunnel. When you come out the other side, you find yourself in a walkway that leads right into the underbrush and you find yourself lost. Was that laughter? Was that her again?

Trying to find your way back, you end up on the sidewalk again. However, this doesn’t quite look like the sidewalk you were on. The sides are heavily covered with brush. The florescent lights look like they're alive. Are those little fairies in there making the light? You rub your eyes, convinced that this is not the case. You are mistaken. But then, beside you, strolls up an individual walking the same direction as you. He has a coin in his hand and is rolling it across his fingers. It feels like you're in a 1950's movie. Maybe it's his pen-striped power suit. Ostentatious, yet appropriately dressed: it makes you feel quite under dressed; you wish you had put on your suit this morning. You never wear a suit.

And then he talks. He talks for hours. "Enough about me. Let's talk about you. What do you think of me?" You find yourself trapped. Every word out of his mouth belittles you. Infuriates you. And then just as you are ready to leave; he says the most beautiful words. Words you've never heard before. Words you can't express It was like he was speaking feelings, not actual words. His mouth moved, but you felt. You saw the words reach out of his mouth and encircle your body. And then his hurtful words started again. This went on for hours. But you were trapped. You could not get enough. And so, when he got up to walk, you got up to follow. Like a puppy on a leash, you followed. He led you through the brush, off the path. Down the valley and up the hills. Where were you? This isn't Richmond. The fleeting thought passed. His words are all that mattered.

He leads you up to a beautiful castle. Up the stairs and to the Door. Did those gargoyles at the bottom of the steps just bow to him? This castle is Huge! And then they come to get you. They drag you off. All you want to do is be around him. But he tells you that you have to do as he commands and he'll spend as much time with you as you want. So you do as he asks. Any time he asks. Just to spend a few more minutes with him. Anything he wants. If he asks you to toil on his machenery and steam punk, you work until you pass out just in the hopes he'll come to you. But he never does. He never comes. Ever. And just when you're ready to leave, when you try to escape, he's there. Offering words of thanks and disgrace in the same breath. "I wanted to come to you. But you didn't do good enough work. I had decided to come now and you repay me by trying to escape!". And then he's off. You go back to cleaning for him. His servants come for you. They tell you that he wants you to help him. Help him lead another to us. I will spend more time with you if you give me someone to do your work for you.... And the circle repeats.

you'll never forget me (Those who Escaped)

OOC: If you were once enthralled by Balthazar's words, determine what you did for him and place yourself within his stranglehold below'. If you don't see a category that fits with what you want your purpose to be with him and you believe your idea fits with the theme and idea of this concept, feel free to add your cateogry. I only ask that you tribute by pulling a category of lyrics from Henry Rollin's Liar.

I'll tear your mind out (liar)

You were once one of Balthazar's liars. Once somoene was seduced under his control and lead back to the castle, he was delivered to you. One of the afflictions would bring the victim to you. You would then convince them of their cause and what they were going to do for Balthazar. You showed people their task and convinced them that this is what they were meant to do. Your primary job was creating and crafting the Pledges (Contracts) between Balthazar and the new Changelings; or creatively wording and witnessing modifications to existing Pledges (Specifically how they could be upheld in the most estranged of sense)

I'll burn your soul (affliction)

You were once one of Balthazar's afflictions. You would drag off the new individual that Balthazar brought back. If someone resisted or attempted to escape, you traked them down and dragged them back screaming all the way. You were his muscle.

  • Lilium - her identity, including her name and appearance, were kept secret so no one but the keeper knew that she was an affliction.

I'll turn you into me (addiction)

You were once one of Balthazar's addictions. You were the envy of the rest because you spent more time with him. But you suffered the worst because you knew in the back of your mind that he was only using you to find your replacement. But you just wanted to be around him. You were the one that led others into the hedge.

I see the destructive power (sucker)

You were his mechanics. His craftsman. A sucker. You maintained the luxry of his castle. You made the mechanations that kept the system running. You crafted his gifts. You built his palace. You toiled at his every whym and fancy. You worked while your hands bled until you passed out. You forgot to feed until someone had to feed you.

don't you get it yet (Inspiration)

and I'll keep lying (OOC)
