Background: South Beach isn’t the most normal place to grow up, but to Bandabras Pelinor, it was just strange enough to be home.
Bandabras’s mother died when he was only three years old, so his father was left to raise the young boy on his own. While he was decent as far as fathers went, he was rarely around. The life of a million-dollar home realtor isn’t one that has a lot of room in it for rehearsals, parent-teacher meetings, or the standard run of parental occupations that so many of the other kids had available to them.
What Bandy’s father lacked in availability, he made up for in granted freedom. With the exception of an ever-present but subtle bodyguard, Bandy had the free run of all of South Beach growing up. Most of his time in his youth was spent on one of two activities.
The first began as an obsession with skim boarding, which later evolved into a love of competitive surfing. No wave was too large for Bandy, especially in Miami where surfing is pathetic at best. As his interest grew, Bandy’s father paid for more and more surf trips around the world, from California to Australia, that soon turned into traveling for competition.
His other hobby was small charity to the poor and homeless on Lincoln Road. Once the sun went down and most of the beaches closed, Bandy would spend his nights walking up and down the famous outdoor shopping center, listening to street performers, trying food from dozens of cultures, and buying meals or finding shelter for those curled up with nothing but blankets and shopping carts full of their worldly possessions. Much to Mr. Pelinor’s chagrin, these transients would often be found in a guest room of the Pelinor home the next morning.
This life continued for the next 22 years, when a single act of kindness was repaid with decades of slavery.
In the winter of 2004, Bandabras was doing his normal walk of Lincoln Road. It had been years since he had needed a bodyguard, and was starting to gain a certain popularity as a young philanthropist. His surfing career was becoming a real career, and rumors of sponsorship deals had just reached him. But none of that mattered during the Christmas season, when charity activities were at their yearly high and he had a chance to really make a difference while everyone was excited by the sense of community fostered by the oncoming holiday.
Sweet, beautiful violin music floated through the air, drawing him toward a crowd that had gathered outside of a boutique bookstore. She was the most beautiful women Bandy had ever seen, perfectly formed and graceful, almost inhumanity so. The young philanthropist stood transfixed, as the song played melodically in his ears and soul.
Suddenly, the moment was shattered by the shattering of glass from the bookstore. Screams sprang up around him while the sound of gunfire blossomed from inside the shop. Unthinking, Bandy sprinted forward and stood in front of the beautiful violinist, feeling an explosion in his shoulder as a bullet ripped through it.
The next couple of hours were a blur of commands, sirens, and beeping medical equipment. It was still nighttime when Bandy was gently shaken awake. He only had a moment to take in his surroundings: the hospital room, the gown, the window with the full moon outside, and her. For a moment, he thought he had died, and an angel had arrived to take him to Heaven, but then she spoke and things were thrown into a clear and sharp reality.
“You were very brave, Bandabras, and it pleases Me to reward you.” Her voice was ethereal, otherworldly, and terribly beautiful. She placed a hand on his shoulder, which burned with a curious and not-unpleasant warmth. He hadn’t even had time to notice the pain until it was gone. He smiled, still half awake.
“Sleep now, My pet. When you wake, we’ll be home.”
When he woke, they were in fact in somebody’s home, but Bandy didn’t know whose. In time he learned that he had saved the life of one of the Gentry, who was at this time calling herself Lady Violet de LaGlace. He also learned that Lady Violet had chosen to reward him by making him her new pet: an obedient lap-Changeling picked for his beauty and willingness to entertain.
And for years he did entertain. So love-struck with Lady Violet, Bandy made every attempt to please her and maybe even earn her love. It wasn’t until nearly five years later that Bandy finally admitted to himself that the Gentry were incapable of real love and, though his heart belonged to her, he began to learn the ways of Arcadia, the terms of the Contracts, and the methods by which they could be exploited to facilitate the escape of Changelings throughout the Faerie lands. In Lady Violet’s presence, he strove for perfection in slavery. When she turned her back, he spitefully worked against everything she stood for in his mind.
For 35 years after that, Bandy made friends and enemies alike throughout Arcadia. Using the prestige gained from his famous and socially brilliant Keeper, Bandy was able to orchestrate and supply dozens of escapes back through the Hedge.
In time, all good things come to an end, and things were no different for young Pelinor, kept beautiful by his Keeper all these years. Unfortunately, he miscalculated in trusting someone too soon, and their innocent desire to follow their own nature made it clear that soon Lady Violet would be informed of his activities. Knowing that any activity on this side of the Hedge would soon come to a crashing halt, Bandy decided his only option would be to escape himself, establish a new network on the other side, and find ways to bring new Changelings over from the mortal world.
When Bandy arrived back on this side of the Hedge, he feared the worst, but found that only a year had passed and it was once again near Christmas, only this time in 2005. He also discovered that his father had disappeared nearly a year before and his fetch had had him pronounced legally dead, inheriting the Pelinor fortune.
After dispatching his fetch, Bandy pulled up stakes and moved to Orlando where he believed his Keeper would have a harder time finding him. He made connections with associates from the other side and started Pelinor’s Home for Lost Runaways, a half-way house for Changelings to help them re-acclimate to a mortal world that might be entirely unrecognizable from what they left. He also heavily involved himself with the actions of the Underground Railroad, a group dedicated to getting Changelings out of Arcadia and the Hedge and effectively hiding them in the mortal world, and the Innkeeper’s Guild, who run and maintain sites like Bandy’s own Home.
He currently resides in Orlando where he is once again gaining a reputation as a philanthropist and playboy. He not only raises money for as many charities as he can, but harvests Glamour by creating in people the desire to help others, in line with his position in the Spring Court. Not a lot is known about Bandabras Pelinor’s personal life, and some suggest he has none, but his public face is one of warmth and good nature.

Quotes
- "Time works strangely here, so if you get back to our world and it's before 2004, do not try to find me. Do not try to prevent my kidnapping. If you do, I won't be here to help you."
- "I'm sure you'll find some way to pay me when you can."

- "him got big pointy ears, him need be careful on windy day, him get blown away" - Rapheal "Raph" Carddec
- "Who? Oh, you mean Band-Aid. Yeah, I know he looks like the usual sort of worthless pretty-boy you see all the time in the Fairest of the Spring Court, but trust me, he's not. I will tell the world, you've GOT to watch out for his strong right arm. But you what's even more dangerous than his right arm? His left arm. You just do not see it coming." - Dzxoxian Brokehorn
- "Brother Bandabras... you would likely be surprised to find him counted among my men. When left to his own devices, he is a creature as far from myself as you can imagine. Where I am stone, he is water. Where I am silent, he is singing; he is spring to my summer, and so forth. Yet, when our enemy presents themselves, and sword is drawn from scabbard and the Aquilifer's call rises... he is there, and he is ready." - Gaius Arctorus
- "It was only a matter of time before we entered into a partnership. The perfect business associate, and an even better friend." - Velios, Lord of Leaves
- "Bani keeps me attached to the passions of life. If it weren't for him, I'd probably be just another random member of the Winter Court. And yes I do know that he loves damn near any female he sees, but you know, I'm alright with this, mostly because I too am on that list." - Sophia McCarthy
- "Sometimes he looks so sad and so faraway when he looks at me that I wonder what I remind him of. Steadfast friend and companion and keeper of so many of my secrets. There are not many who know me as well as Bandabras." - Edria Meredith
