Background: June 9, 1979 Billy Crowe was born to James and Dora Crowe.
The Crowes lived happily in West Helena, AR raising their only son Billy. Billy was a normal kid nothing very special about him at all. They were your very normal family in a very normal situation.
October 23, 1984 Billy’s father was out of town for job related training so Dora was left alone with Billy.
Being a typical boy Billy acted up and was subsequently punished by being sent to his room. After a few hours Dora realized her son had been extremely quiet. When she checked in on him his window was open and he was gone.
Billy was in his room pouting about being in trouble for throwing his food on the floor. He looked around, kicked a few toys. And then began to play. After a few minutes he looked out of his window and saw a very strange man looking in on him. He wasn’t afraid. He was 5 and was a big boy, he wouldn’t be afraid. He walked towards the window and knocked. The window began to open. This man reached in with very long arms and fingers and picked him up. With fear starting to hit him he began to scream, but before a sound could get out he felt himself being pulled. He was now in a very strange world. He missed his mommy, he cried.
October 24, 1984 The cops left the Crowe residence as James made it home from his trip.
Dora recounted the events for the umpteenth time to her husband as he sat bent over in tears. The cops treated the situation as a very young runaway. The Crowes would never be the same. They didn’t last much longer. The loss of their son eventually tore them apart and was divorced within a year. Dora eventually took her own life. She was found clutching a picture of her son. James moved on, never remarrying and burying his life in work and becoming numb to the world.
In the Fae Years went by as Billy grew in the world of the Fae. He learned his place well. He was his Keepers pet. He was there to compliment his Keeper. His Keeper was dark and brooding. He spent a lot of time sitting and thinking in silence. He usually had guests, but it was always a solemn and somber occasion. He knew he was to stay, show interest, be quiet, and do as he was told. This fueled his changed, charging him with darkness and coldness. Emotionally detached his clarity was above normal and his emotions down. This also led to him hardly ever talking.
There were times when he was young that he would think about his mother and begin to cry. This emotion was always met with severe punishment. His Keeper could not be bothered by such frivolous use of energy from anything he owned. There were a few perks to being his pet. He had time to think, learn, and increase his ability to reason and think. Billy’s mind grew stronger than it ever could have on Earth. In addition he was pampered and groomed by other slaves keeping his appearance pristine. He was also able to practice his manipulation on the other slaves when he was separated from his Keeper. And the trials also built up his ability to cope with anything in social situations. Unfortunately his physical development suffered causing him to be very sickly and weak, albeit very dexterous and lithe.
During the years Billy met different Keepers as they visited, but never did his keeper take him to visit others. One such visitor stuck out immensely. Her name was The Choir Empress Mirzintiel Xoserificathos Nor. She disturbed Billy to no end, and he was glad when she left. She had tried to bargain for him. She offered Billy's Keeper many things, but he was never willing to let his pet go.
After he met others Billy realized that his Keeper was never addressed by a name. Apparently he didn't have one, or maybe nobody knew what it was. Either way it struck Billy as an oddity.
At one point his Keeper left for an extended absence. This left Billy alone and able to try new things. He enjoyed the new found freedom and was saddened when his Keeper returned. His Keeper had brought a new toy. This human would be his champion. Representing him in combat games against other Keeper’s slaves. This man immediately saw Billy and realized he was nothing but a young teen. The man and Billy eventually forged a relationship. He became known to Billy as Uncle Bob (Johnathan Ingram, US2002022576). The man did what he could to help Billy out, although it was too late to rescue him completely from the scars imparted to him by his station.
After what seemed like a decade, Uncle Bob earned a favor from their Keeper. When asked what he wanted he kneeled and requested that he be given the chance to win his and Billy’s freedom. The Keeper was furious. He attacked Uncle Bob, demanding why. Was his hospitality not good enough? Was he a cruel Master? And……as he looked at Billy…why even his pet? Uncle Bob cried in anguish as pain rippled over him, then something rare happened. Billy spoke! He cried out “Stop!” as a single tear fell down his cheek. The Keeper startled. The pain in Uncle Bob subsided. And a quiet like has never before been filled the room.
The Keeper looked at Billy, then at Uncle Bob. He retreated to his throne and sat. He began to think. Billy did not move from fear of reprimand, and slowly Bob regained his footing. He once again kneeled and made his request again. But this time there was silence. There was silence for what seemed like an hour. Finally the Keeper smirked. He looked up at Bob and said “Granted”.
The Keeper dismissed Billy. Billy, in confusion looked at Uncle Bob. He nodded his head. Billy left. For the next month Billy was locked in his room and did not see Uncle Bob or the Keeper. Then one day there was a click. Uncle Bob opened the door and said “Let’s go, now!” Billy got up and did as he was told. Uncle Bob led him out of the castle, and then out of the grounds. He followed the now Ogre champion.
June 23, 2007 Eventually they were back in the real world. Billy had some very faint memories of the world and was overwhelmed by the physics and change of realities.
The two made vows with each other. One to protect, the other to obey. They discovered it was 2007. For Billy though he was only about 16, the real world had aged over 28 years. The two found there way to the closest Freehold. In West Memphis the two were welcomed as refugees by Erota, the Queen. After telling their tale they were given refuge and allowed to join the Freehold of Reelfoot Rift. Billy was taken in by most as the kid.
He gained favor with most very quickly, but his dark and cold nature had him quickly becoming of the Winter court. He melded so quickly with the court he was considered a prodigy of it. And though he was Winter the other courts accepted him as the kid. It takes a village to raise a child. One such Changeling was of the Autumn court, Teddy Selwyn (Charles Craig, US2002022676) taught him a little about the Eternal Autumn. Uncle Bob joined up with the Summer court.
One member of the Freehold seemed to know Uncle Bob, her name was Night Shadow (Candice Gross, US2002055862). There was tension there, how do they know each other? All he could get from Uncle Bob was she was involved with their escape...somehow.
Believing in education Uncle Bob effectively took Billy as a child and even enrolled him in a local private school to reintroduce him to humankind and a social world. This was hard but through contacts of those in the Freehold, new records and identities were created for the two.
Billy gained a love of video games, music, and films. He spends many nights going to movies. Mainly sad or date movies. The Glamour there is excellent and easily gained.
He is now living a life once again as a teenager growing in the mortal world. But is this right for him? What is there for him other than more misery and darkness? Can he find emotion again, and learn to be more than something to compliment someone?
