Blooming Oak Now

Blooming Oak has worn more than one face in its time, but always with the same mission: To help those who need help by providing stability and hope for the future. In the mid-1970's, the program was reestablished as a free clinic and drug rehabilitation program for any in need. They will accept all who come through the doors with minimal questions asked.

Previous incarnations of Blooming Oak have always provided services to the less desirable or those who are truly in need.

The History

Blooming Oak was established during the Civil War as a medical clinic for wounded Northern Soldiers, though the doctors took their Oath very seriously, healing any who stumbled in. Under the floorboards of the busy clinic lie a stop on the Underground Railroad, often one of the last ones before the freed slaves began making their own way in life.

One of those who found his way into Blooming Oak was a Changeling who had recently freed himself from Arcadia, only to find himself back in captivity in a divided country. He turned down the option of complete freedom and dedicated his life to helping others escape, eventually taking over Blooming Oak and assisting others. The only name that has survived the often oral history of the Changelings is Oak. The chain of stories has changed and the truth of his deeds is lost to history, however the basic premise remains - it is Oak who made the medical clinic a safe place for Changelings and it is he who took control once the war had passed.

This is the first confirmed owner, however a rumor has circulated the DC Changelings for years that the first true founder was the creator of the District's layout, Pierre Charles L'Enfant. Some dismiss this as silly rumor, but the story continues on, growing and waning as decades pass.
