Mask: Elegant, quiet and dressed in some of the finest clothes a 19yo can afford. Dark eyes and dark hair. Possessed of extremely striking features this young man is poised and graceful with delicate cheekbones and finely arched eyebrows.
Mein: Pale skin with dark hair. At night, there is a scent that blooms off of him. Those familiar with night blooming flowers recognize the scent of Cereus. It is intoxicating, complex, and like a caress. It is in these moments that Cereus truly smiles, and a burden seems to lift from his shoulders.
Mantle: The world seems a little brighter near him though the shadows intensify just a touch as well while a soft, gentle breeze stirs the air around him.
Personality: Often serious and quietly thoughtful, he is somewhat naive. Though the young man is certainly aware of the darker side of the night, he tries to better the world around him in small but tangible ways.
His Keeper: To this day Cereus refuses to speak on his Keeper.

The Stolen Times
Derek grew up a child of an average midwestern family. Three children, the oldest a girl and Derek the youngest. His sister had a thing for horses, his brother for cars, and him for books. He was teased mercilessly about his long eyelashes, and his delicate features growing up. And the day he came out to his parents was the worst day of his life.. his father beat him to a pulp. But his older brother rescued him that night, patched him back together and helped smooth over dad's temper. After making sure everything was alright, his older brother got in his car and drove off to get some fresh air. Kevin got into a major car accident and it changed the lives of this family. No longer able to go to college, his brother spent much of the following year was spent on bedrest and recovery.
Things were good at home as long as Derek stayed quiet about his sexuality, and eventually he even fell in love with a boy named Chaz. His brother was home on break and Derek broke the news to his family.. he was taking Chaz to the Prom. His sister's eyes shone with love and pride, his mother had a similiar look, and his brother placed a comforting hand upon his shoulder as his father silently left the room. The night before prom was the happiest moment of his life thus far. Chaz finally said he loved him, and he decided to try on his tux after getting off of the phone with him. The mirror showed him what so many others saw and was envious of.. a young man of significant beauty and features, dressed impeccibly with love and hope shining forth from his eyes.
It was then that the Fae came for him. There are no words to describe the beautiful creature that placed Derek under his spell. But he took his hand as it beckoned him to, and followed him out to the pastures. The finest horse he'd ever seen awaited them, and he smiled into the face of the Fae as he was about to lift him into the saddle. He thought he heard something, someone calling what sounded like his name and his eyes began to clear slightly as he saw his brother running towards them screaming.. but the whispered words of the Fae clouded his mind, and he was lifted upon the saddle. His arms wrapped around his Keeper's waist and he buried his face into his shoulder as the Thorns tore and shredded his tux.
Cereus doesn't remember much of Arcadia, but what he does remember is that his keeper toyed with him and crushed his dreams & hopes. It took away his free will, and refined his Beauty in order to use it for it's own pleasure all while whispering false words of Love. Derek was made into his Keepers "Night Blooming Flower", his already striking looks were refined and enhanced by the touch of Faery. Pleasure was demanded of him during the days, and during the nights he was left to wander in the gardens. But it was the strong dream of home and the thought of his first kiss and True Love that drew him back through the hedge like a Siren's Song.
He arrived to find out that an impostor had taken his place in the world, and that this Fetch had poisoned Chaz and Derek's love. He found that this world was just as dark as Arcadia.. and men were just as cruel as his keeper.
But his brother was there once again to smooth it all over, and this time they were both Changed. It was his older brother's steady hand and caring love that brought clarity back to Derek. It was his protection that kept him safe, and they found they had more in common than just ties of blood.
Things were good, but they wouldn't stay that way forever. Derek and Kevin fell for the same boy.. or rather Derek fell, while Kevin toyed with him unknowing of Derek's attraction and feelings. There was an ugly fight between the two brothers and Derek ran home crying. He packed his backpack, and got on the first bus out of town.
The Recovered Times
It was on the streets of New York City that Erised found him and rescued him from the gutters. He introduced Derek, now called Cereus after the scent that followed him at night, to the nightlife and the finer things in life. He and his courtiers gave him somewhere safe to sleep and helped him get settled without asking too many questions about a past that Cereus was obviously trying to leave behind. But nothing stays buried forever, and soon his brother tracked him down. With Erised's assistance they reconciled. Derek decided to stay on the East Coast as the memories of 'home' were still too painful and too fresh to return to.
Erised and his courtiers kept Cereus involved in the nightlife scene in NYC, they took him to posh parties and premier events. And though something dark was hinted at in the young man's eyes, his beauty and presence were too striking to ignore. It was somewhere during this time, at one of the random parties that Derek was first offered money for sex. He took that first offer and many others, for something in Cereus cried out for the darker sides of the scene.
Cereus found himself drawn to those unhappy and closeted souls that were making him their dirty secret. Republican politicians having clandestine and illegal affairs with this barely of age boy. Club owners doing drugs with him in the bathroom before a hurried attempt at sex. College boys too scared to tell their drinking buddies or their girlfriends.
Eventually he hooked up with the right type of "wrong crowd" and he began Escorting in earnest. Cereus now has a steady clientèle, and a secure career in an agency that caters to those with a need for discretion.
