Location
The Cold One is housed in a two-story building with basement on Colfax Road in Denver. It's dark, full of rich leathers and heavy woods, but there's a warmth that creeps into even the long shadows where shady figures wheel and deal.
There are two sides to the Cold One, one that allows "normal" mortals to come by and enjoy a pub atmosphere, and one that caters to Lost specifically, where they can relax away from the attention of humans. This is a separation that Mavis keeps very firmly intact, as she uses the human populace as a sort of buffer and veil of normalcy to hide behind.
Theme
Here one is safe from the cruelties of the world, so sit back, relax, and have a Cold One. This is a place where guests can feel that the world's troubles stay outside the doors, and true relaxation can be found in a soft chair, a warm meal, or even a long glass of strong spirits. Changelings come here to meet with others, to gain Mavis' protection, to trade all manners of goods, and some just to eat and drink. Keep in mind that Hospitality is very much in effect, and Mavis does not hold in regard those who would tamper with the sanctity of her safe haven.
Staff
The current list of those who help make the Cold One what it is today:
- Mavis Thornsby -Innkeeper: Wizened of the Winter Court. She is an old, brittle-looking woman that almost always wears muted colors, the clothes comfortable for old bones to move in. Her hair is long, white, and wavy, allowed to hang down over her shoulders in a soft curtain. Her face, crinkled and ancient, typically wears some grumpy, pursed expression, reminiscent of one that has eaten something rotten. She is usually bent over a cane, hobbling about as if every movement causes her pain.

- Nickel - Wizened Drudge of the Courtless, Full Time Maid: Most folk know her as Nickle and she is often seen in either a house dress or some sort of well-pressed and modest maids uniform reminiscent of the days of old hotels, often with bluejeans underneath and a backpack designed to look like some sort of frog. Her hands are too often covered by simple maids gloves and her skin has been thickened from years of toil, the nose on her face far more red than the rest. She is often smiling and chatting up the customers - sometimes overlooked and sometimes not - waiting for everyone to clear out before her shift begins.

Alice - Guest for the Memorial Day Party, Alice seems to undergo changes to her mein all the time. Her hair now drips blood so much so her hair has turned red, the blood seeming to fade before it hits the ground. Her fingernails are long, and look sharp, and blood seems to drip from them too. Her clothes, normally that blue dress and white apron, always seem to be blood splattered, as does alot of her skin. Her eyes recently turned red, like she had bled into her irises. Her skin also seems to give off an odd glow, like moonlight. When she stays stationary, blood seems to seep from her skin, leaving her standing/sitting in puddles, or leaving bloody handprints that fade quickly. [SL2]
Darius Black Hammer - Guest for the Memorial Day Party, Darius is dressed in Jeans and Jacket of sorts with plating of a off metal type off of it. A metal maniacal hangs freely on his left wrist. the chain on it broken. A imposing tall figure of 7ft 6in tall and looks like a freaking wall. His skin covered in what looks like a tattooing similar to woed. A pair of blunted horns hanging off his head, as the wide jaw and ken eyes marks the wit and not the intelligence he poses. The bitter smell of November rain seems to hang off him and a few dead leaves hang out from a few pockets or such.
Pawn - Guest for the Memorial Day Party; Pawn is a short, slender and lithe individual with onyx-black skin and facial features that seem to be perfectly symmetrical. His head is shaved and smooth, black and bulbous like the top of a Pawn piece. His fingers are long and slender and fat at the tips. He is dressed in fine black slacks and button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the forearm. He is calm and patient and sits back watching the passer-bys. He isn't antisocial or unfriendly, just reserved. He has a small onyx and marble chessboard that he brought that he plays as he sits away from the crowd. His eyes follow The Ballerina. -Autumn Mantle 1-
Ballerina - A tag-along guest of Pawn's for the Memorial Day Party, the Ballerina is dressed in mismatched pinks and walks a little stiffly. She rarely blinks and speaks softly when at all.
Emma Hart - Guest for Memorial Day Party, a living ruby statue. The smile on her face seems to be a permanent fixture. She is dressed in a red baby doll tshirt and designer jeans with red slippers.
Hissnclick - Guest for the Memorial Day party. Hissnclick is of average size and breadth, and dressed in a fine wardrobe appropriate for the weather. The pallete is one of rust and beige, unobtrusive. His hair is black, glossy like wet ink. It goes well with his skin, which is a deep purple-blue, and striped with dull bruises like charcoal. His eyes are pure black, like pool of oil. He's dressed in a nice, but unobtrusive autumn wardrobe.
jamie j - Guest for the Memorial Day party. She is small, tiny and at times seems almost insubstantial as a few wizend tend towards. She is wearing a dark blue and black Victorian Style dress, which looks like she's also wearing the traditional style corsets under neath. she has on a cape on with a pair of foxes that line the collar of her cape. Slight gusts of cold and twirls of snow appear around her at times. She smells of Calla Lilies and Funeral parlors. [Winter Mantle 3, Striking Looks 4]
Krystal - Guest for the Memorial Day party, Krystal is a striking woman, standing 5'8, and slender. She has pale skin and black hair past her shoulders, with black feathers mixed through it. Her features are sharp, slightly pointed, and her eyes are completely black. She wears a long black silk dress, which leaves her arms bare. The bottom of the dress is covered in the same black feathers, which also sprout from her wrists. She speaks in a soft, melodious voice. [No mantle, Striking Looks 4, Enchanting Voice.]
luna Max- guest of speedy for the party, is a clowned faced woman with lovely curves. she is dressed in jeans and a shirt with the cirque nocturne logo on the front, and the image on the back of a person on fire with the words, love like fires will consume you.
Nemo - Guest for the Memorial Day Party and "proprietor" of the Isla del Perdido, an Inn of curious repute. Sometimes courier and "enforcer" for the The Innkeepers, when local problems cannot be solved by local means, and probably just there to flirt with the wait-staff (or at least Emma Hart). A gray-skinned man with very warm, damp skin, dressed in a red dress shirt with tan pants and suspenders, covered over with a big brown duster overcoat that occasionally gets him mocked as a "Captain Mal Reynolds" knock-off. Few, if any, mock him about it twice... Nemo is the Summer King of New-New Amsterdam, and has been known to have a bit of a temper as well as the ability to handle himself in a fight. Nemo is never far from [Emma Hart]]'s side, often with a drink in hand, and among other things seems to have a bloody thistle on his lapel.
Ras - Guest at the Memorial Day party. Attractive, somewhat wild looking woman in her mid 20s(SL2). Her mien is that of a Lynx. She has long brown hair and golden eyes, is about 5'7" with an athletic build, and tonight is wearing knee length jean shorts, brown boots, and a tan fitted tee. She has leather straps wrapped around her wrists. There is a scent of wet fallen leaves and earth about her. Any who have a penchant for horror films might recognize her as Iliana Roman, star of many films out of Trauma Studios (Fame 1).
Scarlett - Guest at the Memorial Day Party. Scarlett has skin that is darkened as if to long in the sun. Her hair changes colour and has an almost mesmerizing quality. She has well proportioned attributes (SL2). Around her neck is a hematite ring hanging from a simple chain and an orange blaze ring on her left hand. She is wearing dark blue Pants that could almost pass for a skirt. She shirt is egually dark, yet snug fit. She moves with an unnatural grace that seems to draw the eye, like a moth to a flame.
Shane Darkpool - Guest for the Memorial Day party. Shane's image is similar to that of a classic Leprechaun. Shane has long slivery reddish brown hair, his face is framed by a neat trimmed beard, and his thick eyebrows sit over glowing green eyes. Laugh lines pepper his face. He's dressed casually, a kilt, boots, and a shirt from his Club "Lucky's Tavern". His voice, however, is deep and powerful, and at times, called mesmerizing. (Spring Mantle 2)
Stephan Glamourdust - Guest for Memorial Day Party. Rather tall in mien, pale skin, almost white in complexion. Featureless face, lacking eyes, mouth and ears, but a general 'impression' of where they're supposed to be. Wears a white robe, with a black tabard, for the winter season currently in place.
Speedy G - Guest for the Memorial Day Party. Looks to be in her 20's brown hair and eyes. Short, with a angular face and the wide eyes of a hawk. feathers extend down to her cheeks in a downy halo around her face. jeans and Motorcycle gear are her normal wear.On the shoulder of the jacket is a patch with the CARDS logo on it.
Rebekah Retriever Guest for the Memorial day party. She has shoulder length, black curly hair. Her most distinguishing feature are floppy, black dog ears, otherwise her appearance is quite ordinary. She is wearing black tailored pants and a white tuxedo shirt.
Abel Grimm Guest for the Memorial Day Party. He stands about 6ft tall. His head is bald and his eyes are solid black. He wears a very expensive suit with a black silk shirt and a blood red tie. His hands are covered by blood red gloves. He smells of Autumn leaves and when one is near him a chill runs through the bones as if the autumn wind coursed through the body. Rya Ousel and Arien Wynters Memorial day guests - Rya, gypsy style flamboyance, dresses as befits a spring monarch - a gown of shades of green that flutter like leaves on a willow tree. Arien is dressed, as usual, in black and white - which goes with his name, if not his season. The two Spring court folks tend to draw a soft scent of lilac and wisteria with them as them move gracefully through the room.
Jim Darque Late arrival to the Memorial Day Party. Jim has dressed formally, long black coat over a black dress shirt with cuffs and collar, leather pants, and shiny thigh high black calvary boots. He wears a top hat and has drawn his hair back from his skull with a black bow. In one gloved hand he carries a leather satchel., in the other he uses a pole axe as a walking stick. Winter Mantle - 4
Kit Late Arrival. Kit is dressed in an eye bleeding panopoly of bright colour, he has on a bright orange lacrosse jersey underneath a short sleeved orange, yellow and slightly red hawaiian print button up t-shirt (Undone). Covering most of his right arm is what looks like a drawn close Camoflage sleeve bag. He has on these dark, almost blood red pants that lighten to a crimson shade near the feet, where he is wearing these black socks... Autumn Mantle - 4

Brand- Arrived for the battle of Cold one, in 2008. Brand is a man of slightly more then medium height, and well-built. His hair short and black, his eyes a deep blue. His voice and stature betray his towering self-confidence, egotism combined with a kind of innocence. His mannerisms and speech show the upmost courtesy to all, common or noble alike. Brand is a fire elemental with flaming red eyes, and as well as tribal flame tattoos moving over his body. Brand wears hedgespun raiment armor made of the purest blue unmelting ice, and a torn crimson cloak.
Nepenthe - In attendance off and on during the end of June and halfway through July. Description to be found on the wiki if you click the name attached to this. He's fairly quiet, but fairly cynical and sarcastic when motivated to speak, but not entirely unpleasant. He's fairly acrimonious in general by temperament, but friendly in it, as if in recognition that in spite of his bitterness it's not the fault of others around him, so he's not really trying to take it out on them.
Drake - Arrived in late June and staying through parts of July for the Battle against The Lady and her General. He stands around 5'10" with a lithe and dexterous look to him. He has golden brown hair which is kept medium length. What is most notable about him is his eyes; Baby-blue that are like star-sapphire. He is quiet, calm, and honestly modest. He is seen usually wearing black work boots and loose fitting clothing: white shirt with a white short-sleeved over shirt, khaki cargo pants. When he speaks, it is in a baritone voice and almost always kind. Drake is a Fairest Bright One that seems to have a faint glow about him. He wears a Hedgespun Raiment of what looks like white leather. ((OOC: Summer Mantle 2))

Hello my dear little ne'erdowells, it's that time again!
Yes indeed, another party at the Cold One where you can eat my food, and drink all the alcohol you can handle (Or.. for those among you belonging to the teetotalers set, my other non-alcoholic drinks)!
This time, there's only a mild dash of theme with the food, drink, and merriment. So, while I do suggest that anyone who wants to bring stories of those they would memorialize, that is but the reason behind the holiday. The thing that will make it truly interesting is you!
The Hook?
Bring Your Own Meat.
Yes, you heard right.
Does it have to actually be the flesh of a once-living creature? No. But if you can find a better acronym.. well let's just say you can't!
I'll cook anything you bring, save a few obvious exclusions. Bring me human flesh, for example, and I swear you'll be finding another place to spend your time. If you really want an excluded list, send a note to me privately, and we'll discuss what exactly is not allowed, then I'll tie your shoelaces for you too.
Side dishes and desserts will be provided, as will the drinks, of course. RSVPs are required, so please make certain to let me know at least by Friday, May 23rd that you intend to come visit, as I'll need a little time to prepare.
I look forward to seeing you come! For those of you who recall the last get-together, I think you'll remember we had quite a time. And yes... there might just be another drawing for this party.

Where: The Cold One, in the Hall of the Mountain Kings (Denver)
Why: To remember the fallen, and to have some delightful refreshments
How: I don't bloody care. Get a plane ticket, ride a bus, walk through the Hedge.. Just travel as you always do, for heaven's sakes.
Dress: Casual
No entry fee this time, though donations are always accepted. If you don't bring something to grill, there'll be food, though I dare say it won't be quite so entertaining.

It's that time again folks! Time for another IRC IC Party at the Cold One! This one, like the last, will be a Soft RP event, but considering I was able to get a decent chunk of EXP when I turned the game logs in to my ST, I dare say you'll be able to earn for it. I will be logging the event for this purpose, and anyone who requests a copy will be able to get them.
Make sure to let me know if you're coming by May 23rd, so I can plan accordingly for caffeine and sugar intake levels to keep up with you all. Hopefully we'll all have as much fun as last time!
Here are the OOC Specifics:
1) Announcements begin around 5:30pm MST in #ColdOne-OOC on the Darkmyst Server for IRC. RP on at 6pm MST. (That's 8pm EST, 7 CST and 5 CST.)
2) I have no idea when RP will end. Last time we went well past Midnight, and I hope we do that well this time!
3) You don't have to send a proxy, but giving me a quick notice of your intent to come play (Name, PC Name, Cam #) is important so that I can log your visit with my ST.
4) This event is entirely Soft, meaning consensual challenges only. There will not likely be an ST on hand, so anything outside very mild chops will probably not be allowed.
