OOC Note: I'm always looking for character ties. If you want to know Faust, been under his knife, had him build something for you, go right ahead and drop me a line and I'll be happy to work something out.

Known History

Basic Time line:

-- 1934 -- Born to Stephen and Grace Mitchell.

-- 1958 -- The young medical student disappears into the Hedge. His fetch continues his existence without so much as a single suspicion from his friends or family.

-- 1965 -- Horatio, now changed from his time in Faerie into a smaller and more bitter man, returns to the real world to discover that an impostor has taken his place, married his girlfriend, and is now a wealthy doctor with a private practice.

-- 2002 -- Took part in The Bad Penny incident.

Current Activities:

Strangely enough, having his life taken from him has given him a form of freedom. He wasn't truly interested in becoming a doctor, but assented to his father's wishes. It was the family tradition going back three generations. Now that an impostor has taken his name, his face, and several years of his life, he finds himself able to choose his own course.

So, naturally, he's become a mad scientist.

Background:

Note: All of this is OOC information.

He was a medical student when he was taken, but a lackluster one. He had more of a mind for engineering, but medicine was a family tradition going back three generations.

Taken: In his second year in Medical School he was taken by one of the Warlords of the True Fae. He needed support staff for the endless wars that he would wage upon his neighbors. Faust was taken to care for the wounded goblin troops and to work in the armory.

Escape: No one can be sure why the Fae make war the way they do. Perhaps in their fascination with humanity they feel the need to attempt to emulate them. Perhaps their motivations are to emulate humanity in an attempt to find emotions for themselves -- who knows? All Faust knew was that this Warlord was a psychotic maniac with delusions of being some sort of mythical Hero/Warrior.

Too many battles where changelings were used as shock troops. Useless conflicts meant only to amuse their Lords and Ladies. It was time to escape. Quietly, over several months, he attempted to organize a band of the Lost to flee. He thought it heroic and righteous.

Faust was so goddamn stupid.

Seven Lost made it into the Hedge that night.

Faust- Wizened Chirurgeon

Morgan Silver - Elemental Waterborn

Cassidy - Darkling Leechfinger

Virgil - Beast Hunterheart

Polyphemus - Ogre Cyclopean

Ricky Buchanan - Wizened Soldier

Ser Elwyn Blackwater - Fairest Draconic

He found these among the warriors he treated for injuries in those endless battles. When the time came to escape into the Hedge, they were pursued by the Warlord's hunters.

There wasn't so much a battle as each member of the party being picked off one by one. Out of the seven who went in, only Doctor Faust and Morgan managed to escape pursuit.

Quotes By Doctor Faust

"It's not my fault your Keeper used you for a birdbath." -- To Morgan Silver on more than one occasion.

"When I call you a moron, it's because I like you...really."

"You won't be laughing so hard when the Death-bot I built arrives!"

"Yes, I'm a jerk. Yes, my bedside manner is for crap. But you'd better remember that there isn't anyone else here to patch your dumb ass up. A simple "thank you" will suffice."

"I don't concern myself with the question of 'should I do something'. There's no time for that. I just go ahead and do it. Hey, I never said I was wiser than you -- just smarter!"

"I build attack robots for me, not for you. I'm not going to waste the effort to build one so you can attempt some doomed attack on the True Fae. I like my robots more than I like you!" -- To Vigilant Fury

El Squirrel: You know what the difference between you and me is, Doc?
Faust: I have opposable thumbs and an education?

El Squirrel: Okay. Point.

"I made this for Morgan a long time ago. I put a lot of myself into the things I make, and I really hate making weapons. Too good at it, you see. I'm a doctor, you know? Shouldn't be making things that kill people. Not that these things matter much to the Gentry. Seen too many good Lost die just on my way out of Arcadia. Now blood is going to be shed again. But if you want to fight... you should do it with your mother's and my steel." --to Gaea upon giving her Morgan Silver's spear at the Bad Penny.

"I'll let you Winter Court deal with the 'what ifs,' I'm only worried about the 'right now.'"

Quotes about Doctor Faust

"You!!! YOU!!! FAUST Speaking things I don't understand!!!!!" *sobs and runs away* - One of the many times Gaea lost her temper with him when she was young.

"Ah yes, Doctor Faust. He's always an enjoyable read. I just recently received his thesis on *launches into 20 minutes of techno-jargon* but as to his hypothesis, I honestly think *another 40 minutes of esoteric science babble*. In short, it's an interesting idea, but is it really... useful? Get me a way to subdue one of the Gentry, so I can... study him. Then we'll be in business." - James Cornoa on Faust's studies.

Rumors

Doc Brown, another inspiration.

Doc Brown, another inspiration.
  • Did he really build a Rocket Propelled Chainsaw!?!
  • I hear Doctor Faust's shoes always play the Imperial March from Star Wars...why is that?
  • Doctor Faust's labs spews harmful chemicals into the atmosphere. He said something about "eliminating the colder Courts."
  • He doesn't talk about it often, but rumor has it that he attempted escape with several others, but most or all of them were killed.
  • Every time Doctor Faust pulls out a weapon he destroys his target with a single hit. It must be because he has a surgeon's precision.
