The last leaf has fallen. The time for action has passed. Now, comes reflection. A time to mourn the dead, to plan for the new year, a time to take stock of everything we have achieved. I invite you all to the Sanctuary, for a feast and a celebration of the end of the year. The animals that survive the winter are those who sleep through it, or those who stick together in herds. We will not sleep; We are strong, because we are together, and because we support each other. Be it fear from the Hedge, or what may come from it, be it for what you had before, that another holds dear, or a simple sense of a lack of place, we stand together. All who were Lost and their loved ones are called to share in this, our festival of existence. Bonfire Night
Bonfire Night is an annual celebration on the 5th of November. Also called Guy Fawkes Night, it celebrates the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot, in which a group of Catholic conspirators attempted to blow up the Palace of Westminster on the evening of 5 November 1605, when the Protestant James I of England (James VI of Scotland), his eldest sons and the majority of the English Parliament were within its walls. The conspirators were later tortured and executed. The celebrations involve fireworks displays and the building of bonfires, on which dummies representing Guy Fawkes, the most infamous of the conspirators, are traditionally burnt. With the ending of the year at Samhain, the citizens of Dunasheen gather with their guests to witness the coronation of the Winter King, Hoffman, our host for the event. |
