Physical description: Very attractive man in his early thirties, dressed typically in jeans and muscle shirts, though occasionally he may throw in a button down shirt with jeans, or even dress classy, depending upon the gig. Has tattoos on both of his arms of musical notes, and you'd swear they never seem to show the same notes twice. Gorgeous considering the blue collar look, but only seems to show any real joy when he's singing.

Current Activities: - Largely, Eddie plays at clubs or bars, or gets drunk when he doesn't have a gig. He gave up the heroin a while ago, and doesn't want to go back, that burning reminds him too much of her. He also spends time out watching the Trods, not going in, just the entryways, for more Lost who happen to make it out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Merit Details: Token (1) - The Murmuring Coin, Token (3) Hedgespun Wardrobe - Despite his poor seeming lifestyle, Eddie can find an outfit appropriate for any situation, and seems to be able to afford more than he should.

Background:

  • June 12th, 1960 Asbury Park, NJ - Eddie was born to Robert and Mary Barnes, both long time factory workers, who lived right in Asbury Park, NJ. Having a rather humble home life, living in the crowded, dirty, and poor home his parents could barely afford. Growing up, Eddie happened to be graced with good looks, and an even greater knack for music. If it was an instrument, given a week he could be competent with it, given a month, you'd think he was playing for years...or so people used to say.
  • 1970-1978 Asbury Park, NJ - Eddie has at least 1 thing to look forward to, The State seemed to produce some amazing musical talent, Bruce Springsteen and the East Street Band was huge, as was Billy Joel in those time, and Eddie tried hard to follow in their footsteps. It was a rocky start, being a dockworker only earned you enough money to get by, and even then it didn't leave for much time to hit bars to get your stuff out there, but try he did, and succeeded.
  • September 7th, 1978 Atlantic City, NJ - His first paying gig, barely 3 weeks after turning 18, he got the attention of a drop dead gorgeous redhead. She said her name was Mary, though he'd later know her as The Burning Duchess. She asked for a repeat performance in a more private setting. Young, dumb, and full of ambition, Eddie got right into her Cadillac, and they drove, right into Atlantic City and then into some dive called, "The Hedge"
  • Arcadia (5 Years) - Eddie lived the life of a celebrity. Always on tour, concerts, backstage parties, the groupie sex orgies. Problem is, it was all just an illusion. He knew in the end he was there for her, and only her. Her role always changed, girlfriend, band member, manager, groupie...but she was always there, and the party kept going, through 5 years of burnout. He never sounded better, and he never felt worse. As time went by, he began to get a faint perception of the world as it truly was around him, and not the ever shifting landscape from tour bus, to stage, to dressing room, to club. He'd get glimpses of it, usually around the times his Keeper was distracted from using Eddie to satisfy her own needs, a burning palace of pure flame, and a breathtakingly beautiful woman, likewise wreathed in flame. The worst of it all though, was seeing his own skin burn and char, and then heal through it all, when she was all over him.
  • January 17th, 1997 - Some Changelings have to fight to earn their freedom, wait for the right moment and flee, or even suffer to serve as a Loyalist, and gain freedom with a heavy cost. Eddie won his freedom. He doesn't talk about it to this day, except that she challenged him to feel actual love for him, and she would set him free. They say he succeeded, and walked out the door the moment she confessed her undying love for him. The very Duchy shook as he fled, knowing the moment he won her heart, he broke it in that same breath, and she was bound by her word not to pursue him. Eddie leaves and returns to Atlantic City...19 years later, and for the first time, feels cold... the wonderful chill of winter, for 5 years in his own personal hell.
  • 1997 - 2002 - Eddie find out his life moved on without him, found out his family never knew he left. He knows The Burning Duchess can't touch him, so long as he upholds the pledge he swore to her, as his stipulation. She knew he wanted nothing to do with Changelings, yet she forced him to have no choice. He does the only thing he knows...play. Playing in clubs, playing in bars. He doesn't have to deal with the groupies, and orgies now, and earns the nickname, "Lonely Eddie" as a result of refusing any company, with small exceptions as time goes by. But many say those who travelled with him only do so because they share his torment, or his need to keep moving, and keep their identity secret.
  • 2002 - Present - Eddie finds something different about the Hampton Roads area..this place is different, the signs of Gentry don't seem to exist here. The Hedge looks well kept, and clear, though he can't find who was responsible for this. He finds a good place to settle down and hide out, and continue to play and perform, only making enough to survive. He's had enough wealth and fortune to last him a lifetime.

"Are you serious? I don't care if it'd be your first time, your better off staying a virgin, trust me." - Eddie after countless attempts at women hitting on him.

"No winter lasts forever; no spring skips it's turn." - Hal Borland

"People deserve... the truth. They deserve honesty. The best music, you can seek some shelter in it momentarily, but it's essentially there to provide you something to face the world with." - Bruce Springsteen

Rumors

  • Eddie despite all he went through only left because of the bargain, and still cares about his Keeper, because its all he's ever known.
  • Eddie stays away from sleeping with women because of the nightmares it brings, and has been known to almost kill one once.
