I can forgive you the damage to my lips, I can forgive you the bite marks on my hips,
But there is only one thing I can't stand,
Don't call me Chris...
My name is Elvis.

I'm Your Man

Wildcat Hills. Big Sky Country. Freedom.

Alias(es): The King

Real Name: Elvis, dammit. It was a real name before that other Elvis you know.

Location: Chicago, IL.

Age: Elvis is in his late 50's or early 60's, but barely looks 30

Seeming: Fairest

Kith: Flowering

Court: Spring

Concept: Fixer

Mask: Elvis is a ruggedly handsome man (Striking Looks ••) who looks like someone familiar with the road. His easy and friendly smile is usually surrounded by a few days' worth of stubble and often quite a bit of color from the sun. Elvis is typically dressed in some manner of Western wear, tight jeans, flannel shirts, a big belt buckle and a beat-up cowboy hat but when it's called for, Elvis cleans up nicely.

Mein: Elvis' Mein is not so different from his Mask, his ears are no more pointed than normal, his hazel eyes a bit richer and his smile slightly more intoxicating but he is much less fantastic than most other Fairest, simple Midwestern raising as he tells it. It's not his looks that reveal the touch of the Wyrd usually, it's his scent. Elvis smells like flowers, not surprising for his Kith, but his flowers aren't delicate or ethereal, Elvis smells like prairie wildflowers, untamed and free. His Mantle is a warm breeze coming across big sky country, the heat of spring and the smell of a rainstorm just off over the horizon.

Car: Early 70's Dodge Charger, black and chrome.

Goodwill: Summer •••, Winter •

Lord I Was Born A Rambling Man

Ask where Elvis was born and you'll usually find that he's from wherever best suits the conversation or your needs. It's more than likely that he's from the Midwest somewhere, but the details are rarely the same twice. Sometimes he's from Omaha and worked as a bull-rider on the rodeo circuit, other times he's from St. Louis and an auto-mechanic. Often he was a trucker from Memphis, and he even invented the grill that now bears George Foreman's name. Some would call Elvis a liar, but that would be a disservice to the man. Elvis O'Connor is one of the finest confidence men that ever walked the face of God's green earth (at least, to hear him tell it). He wasn't above picking a pocket or stealing a car if that's what was needed, but that was never his strong suit.

When Elvis came back across the Hedge he had nothing. He was alone, he was broke and he was desperate and desperation makes you do crazy things. He returned to crime, but crime had changed a lot in the decades he'd been gone. Violence was key, brute force, not the finesse and art that had made him the King of the Con. He went from a bad situation to worse and after nearly getting arrested on a charge that would have landed him back into captivity he took a step back to gain some perspective (literally and figuratively).

It turned out that things weren't as bad as they'd seemed. For starters, his Fetch was not nearly the criminal artiste that he was and was currently serving a nice, long jail term on his behalf. That was when Elvis decided to start doing right and make sure that no one else had to go through what he did. He started working on refining his contacts, both the new and the old, making friends with the thieves and forgers, no thugs, no murderers, just the guys who could get you what you need.

That's what he's done for over 15 years now. When you tear your way through the Hedge you have nothing, no life, no stuff, no hope. Elvis can provide. You need a mattress to sleep on don't you? Elvis can get you one. You need a microwave? Just ask. You need a new identity? Elvis knows a guy. He rarely asks for much repayment, in terms of money or promises or anything else, but he's been known to call in a favor or two when it's his turn to need something.

Slander and Hearsay

  • Elvis defends the validity of his name awfully hard, almost as if he was trying to throw people off the trail of something....
  • Elvis is not a violent man and dislikes violent crime, especially kidnapping. He's got no problem with pistol-whipping though. He likes him a good pistol-whipping.
  • Elvis used to work on a ranch and toured for years as part of the rodeo circuit.
  • Elvis' Charger is magical, not a Token but an item of true and proper power.
  • Elvis has a network of connections that can get you anything you want so long as the price is right.
  • When Elvis first came back across the Hedge his Mein was more fantastical and his flowers were delicate, elegant things. Through sheer force of will he changed his Mein to be less completely embarrassing.
  • Elvis has got money, but more often than not sleeps in his Dodge Charger when he's on the road. Some say it's because it reminds him of his humble scoundrel roots. Others say it's so that he can be tearing up the road on the run in a moment's notice.
  • Elvis never discusses his durance, even almost 20 years after returning to earth. Whatever happened to him has been too painful for him to talk about.
  • When Elvis returned across the Hedge, he found his Fetch in prison serving time on his behalf. He engaged in some dream warfare only to discover he had a great deal of empathy for his Fetch and his plight. Elvis actually staged a jail-break to help free his Fetch, who agreed that they would go their separate ways and leave the other be.
  • Elvis had the chance to merge with his fetch, but his inability or unwillingness to discuss his durance prevented him achieving that unity.
