Gringlebutton, the Prince of Fools and Giant Amongst Dwarves

Gringlebutton is angry-

The other Gentry treat him as if he were a servant, commanding him to perform and amuse them in their perpetual boredom. If he fails to entertain, they taunt him and cast him from their sights. Gringlebutton wishes he were like the others, but doesn't realize that he has such thoughts or feelings. He just knows the anger and jealousy... But Gringlebutton has found a solution, and it will please him very much.

He stole into the night and crossed through the Hedge. He gazed upon mortals... these creatures, weaker than him but still possessing a beauty and grace that he could hope to have for himself. Yet if he possessed these creatures, then their talents and fine forms would be his forever.

Some he takes as pets, trying his best to make them "Presentable" for the other Gentry, although such attempts rarely come out free of flaws. How can something so broken be expected to create perfection? He parades these poor souls around with a sick sense of pride and punishes them when he is mocked for his 'failures'. He doesn't understand what he's doing wrong, and so Gringlebutton just keeps stealing more and more to practice on.

Others he takes to fill his Mock Court, forcing them to take on the roles of the Various Gentry who mistreat him. One day he might place himself in the highest positions, while treating the dopplegangers in ways more atrocious than he has ever been by their real counterparts. Times when he knows that he is to perform for the other Gentry, he uses this fake Court to practice. The "Court Members" are expected to laugh and be delighted by his antics, except for when he's not satisfied with his performance, then they are to be punished for their lack of honesty. Once he is satisfied, he goes and performs... if the Gentry aren't amused, he takes it out on the Mock Court, for not showing him the mistakes.

He's 'recently' taken to having some of his slaves sneak about and steal the life from favored pets and valuable tools of his fellow Gentry, in the hopes of making himself stronger through his 'fine possessions'. These creatures must hunt and hurt those who are just as much of prisoners as they are.
