Description
Hypnos, a Gentry stylized after the Greek God of Sleep. Of unremarkable appearance, he would appear as a mortal man in the dreams of those he planned to steal away, visiting them oft, slowly poisoning them as they slumber. Those he whisks away are plucked from their slumber in the dead of night, oft in a hypnagogic state.
Domain
Residing deep in the depths of Arcadia. His Domain, that of a palatial cave of eternal night, silence permeates the cavern broken only by the breathing of those Hypnos has taken. The floor of the cave is cleft in two by a river running through the Domain.
At its entrance, the ground is carpeted with sea of red poppies which are harvested by those Hypnos has abducted, ground down into a fine elixir which is used to aide in the kidnapping of further mortals.
Others
Hypnos has a multitude of faces that span the breadth of time & the nations of the world. In Ancient Rome he was known as Somnus, in modern times though, he has taken to the moniker of 'The Sandman'.
Escaping the Domain
Few have been able to fight the constant pull of slumber that hangs in the musty air of the cave, those that have find that the river carries them away into Freedom. With this freedom, a blessing of sorts is conferred, the memories of those how are fortunate enough to escape find that they can not remember anything about Hypnos whilst they are awake. They are not so lucky when sleep claims them, they are tormented by the memories of their years of servitude to the God of Sleep.
Those that have managed to escape the Domain of Hypnos often find themselves proficient in the ways of Oneiromancy.
