The Serpents Tail

Name: Jack Sprat
Real Name: Unknown
Titles: Reeve of Forgotten Pits, Knight of the Black Order, King of Autumn in Kansas City
Seeming: Beast
Kith: Venombite
Court: Autumn
Concept: Sociopathic Killer
Mask: Jack appears to be a slightly dirty, thin, sallow man with a pronounced bone structure and very little hair on his body. His head is completely bald and his eyebrows are so light in shade as to be almost non-existant.
Mein: Jack is a blend of serpent and man, looking for all the world a mix of the two. His skin is a light yellow/green and his eyes are verticle slits. His nose and chin are less pronounced then they have a right to be and his tongue is long and forked. On close inspection his skin seems to bare the pattern of tiny silver scales.
Mantle: Shadows seem to elongate and the slight smell of death and decomposition fills the air. The crisp, tense feeling of action about to happen comes along with the feeling of being stalked.

The Snake In The Grass

Not Quite Human
Come 'ere now, love. It's you'n'no other, but you know that now, don'ya? C'mere, my love, an' I'll help ya t' sleep..." - Phrase made infamous by the serial killer 'Christopher Jarvis' prior to his death by lethal injection in 1982.

The enigmatic figure who calls himself 'Jack Sprat' can have his history traced rather clearly. Prior to his time in Faerie, Jack was a man named Christopher Jarvis, a well known and absolutely brutal serial killer in London, England. He speaks, rarely, to others of having been abducted by his Keeper while committing murder in the Summer of 1978, which means that the 'Christopher Jarvis' who was arrested in America and later put to death for murders comitted there and abroad would have been a Fetch.

After his escape from Arcadia in 1997, Jack found himself very much alone and confused in a land that only vaguely resembled his home. Lost and confused, he found himself tracing the life of his fetch. He travelled to America - Washington DC, to be specific, and found the prison where his fetch had been executed. He went about resuming his habits, committing murder after murder in the country with little regard for morality or decency. He was caught in 2001 by someone meant to heal him and taken to the Freehold of Pittsburgh, there to sit out a duration of one year while attempting to regain his Clarity.

Since being released Jack has found a delicate balance - killing is still a fundamental part of his nature, but now he does so only when told to - provided he does, in fact, get told to from time to time. To that end he has become something of a hired killer, working for those who will speak his pledges. He is particularly well known to work for the Autumn Court, executing those who stand in the way of the powerful and greedy.

Soundtrack

  • Little Drop of Poison - Tom Waits
  • Poison - Alice Cooper
  • Midnight Rambler - The Rolling Stones
  • Jack The Ripper - Morrissey

Allies and Enemies

  • die Rattenkonigin - Jack's constant companion, ally and tie to morality. Known to be very protective of his clarity and to grow upset with those who threaten it.
  • Nujalik - Jack's muse, in the truest sense of the term. She is the inspiration for much of his anger, envy and other dark and twisted emotions. He has yet to approach her without a knife bared.
  • Race Ardent - Said to be the last line between Jack and the loss to madness, Race seems to be dedicated making Jack whole again... or putting him down.
  • Tommy Blue - Jack's little sister, protege and perhaps... something else. One of only a handful of creatures Jack seems to be genuinely fond of.
  • Althea Sexton
  • Cerannen - Blood left pooling in dark soil, cuts too ragged to wash, teeth and fang and hoof and scale. A most pleasant of introductions.
  • Remy Carson - Remy and Jack once took a trip to Penn state together.
  • Gryphon - A do-gooder who tried to set Jack straight a while back. She failed the crusade, by Jack's estimation. But by hers? The crusade has only just begun.
  • Pawn - A fellow Courtier who has worked with Jack for many years. Often they parallel each other as the opposite side of the same coin. Pawn's knowledge of psychology has helped curbed the tide of Jack's descent more than once.

Quotes

  • "His eyes are poison, clear to the toes. Poison that watches and sets in the legs. Snakes shouldn't bite. Except when they do." - Nujalik
  • "Snakes don't smell cold, or dry, or earthy, though they are all of those things. They smell...empty. He smells the same way." - Cerannen
  • "My brother in death. We know the blood of our kills, of each other, I know his poison and he knows my claws. Do not be the one I come for over Jack." - die Rattenkonigin
  • "Jack? You don't want to ask about him. Asking about Him is like asking after the devil. Hell, even saying His name is a bad idea." - Remy Carson
  • "Jake the Snake. Snake, but not Jake. Jack. Jack - Snack. Jack the Snack. Jack-my-Jack, he's good for your heart. He dices and prices and slices the tarts. Tarts are tasty, tasty treats, to lick with your forked tounge after you eat. I like snacks, I do, my Jack. Have you a lolly meant for me, 'coz? Tommy is as her teacher does." - Tommy Blue
  • "You look into his eyes and see a killer, but I see more. I gave my word that I'd do my best to bring back that spark... or put it out forever." - Horace "Race" Ardent
  • " Jack is the perfect example of the failures in our mental rehabilitation system. Given sufficient funding and support, maybe poor souls like Jack could be helped. Instead, bureaucracy and an uncaring public mean that nobody is even willing to help him. What could be worse in our society than our own depraved indifference?" - Dr. Emil Zahne
  • "Pull off the legs on the lizard and you have a snake. Pull the fangs out of a snake and what do you have? Oh yes, a delectable little worm. Mmm.. squirmy." - Capricious
  • "Wise, witty, and polite. If he's insane, then the rest of the world could use a bit of his venom."~Nycto Feraz

Rumors

  • For all that they hate each other, Jack and Nujalik are often found in the same city. For what reason, nobody knows, but it's bound to be a bloody one.
  • Jack is sometimes called the White King
  • Jack can never cry. If tears come forth they burn his skin with poison more searing than any other.
  • Jack is a member of a secret society where he takes part in strange rituals and ghoulish ceremonies. Rumors of everything from snake worship to cannibalism have been heard.

OOC Notes

Played by Zack Parsons-Wright.

I am currently actively seeking ties - particularly from those who wish to have used Jack as a killer in the past. I am playing a second-tier character, but that only works if strong first-tier characters use him.
