1952: Taken from London, during the Great London Smog in December of that year.
1952-1998: Kept in Arcadia, where he is transformed into a being of elemental flame and smoke.
1998: Appears from the Hedge.
Current Activities:
Jack in the Smoke is currently the King of Autumn in Reading, keeping busy with his Motley and shifting from city to city, as the mood takes him.

Background:
Very little is known about Jack in the Smoke. It is known that he came from smoke, being snatched by his Keeper during the Great London Smog of 1952, when a dense and smoke filled fog settled on the city, causing deaths in the city to rise by four thousand in response to the dense pollution. Who he was, and what he was before this day is not something Jack has ever spoken of.
He was taken to Arcadia, where he was kept by the same Keeper that also held his Motley mates - Good Doug and Carin. He does not speak of his time there much, and all that is known is that one day he decided it was time to leave.
He crawled his way out of the Hedge in 1998, before either of his Motley mates. However, upon their return, he rapidly took up with them, appearing to have a particularly close relationship with Carin who is almost unique in his capacity to rein Jack in when the mood is upon him.
