Chapter I: A Beautiful Lie
(This information isn't known by anyone. Jo has Amnesia and has no recollection of these incidents except for vague flashes to tell others.)
There was once a little girl who was very unhappy. She never quite felt as if she fit but hid this from everyone around her. On the outside, she was friendly, pretty, and did well at everything she tried her hand out. The girl was always busy; her classmates and teachers often wondered how she had time to fit all her activities in and still manage to stay as happy as she was. In reality, the girl was just occupying her mind to stave off the creeping sadness that always penetrated the inner depths of her mind.
At night, the girl would sneak out and spend time walking the woods by her house. It was there that she met the dark haired boy who talked to her in the darkness. He told her that he knew the sadness in her heart and that he wanted to ease her loneliness. She never noticed the broken look in his eyes, or the nervous way he'd glance back to the woods ever so often. He comforted her in the coming nights, telling her such a beautiful lie, and she found herself coming to him more and more. When her parents came to her concerned, she dismissed their concerns and found ways around their nightly watches.
As time passed, the pressures of school and life became taxing on her and the girl spent more time visiting the young man, and when she was not around him, her days were spent dreaming of the nights when she would be in his presence and could talk of the the sorrow in her heart.
One night she came to him, and he told her that never again could he visit with her, for his master has called him home. The girl was greatly puzzled by this and found herself scared and melancholy. She cherished the night and when he left, she followed him. He noticed her attempt to follow and became agitated. "No! Go away! I do not want you her. Go on and enjoy what you have and your life out there... The sorrow you feel is nothing and what you feel isn't true sorrow." The girl was shocked, yet continued to follow the young man.
The young man cried with sorrow as the woods became unfamiliar and the thorns ripped at their clothes. He never ceased his pleas to turn back, and began to try and block her from following him. He even resorted to physical force, but she would not be deterred.
Chapter II: Rewards for Those Who are Good
The young man hung his head as the passed through the last bit of the Hedge. Bloody and torn, The young woman was barely aware of what had occurred, just happy to be with her beloved stranger.
The land around her was painfully beautiful, and she stumbled after her love, never once looking back.
They arrived at what once must have been described as a awe inspiring manor. Even in ruin, the estate had an awe inspiring quality that made the lost girl gasp.
Once inside, the atmosphere changed. The boy's appearance became quite strange; beautiful and frightening at the same time. His face still held the sadness as a dark, hunched figure came out of the shadows.
"You have done well for me boy. She will do nicely for my court. As a reward, you'll be given special attention in Court tonight. Remember, there are rewards for those who are good."
As the boy she lost herself to retreated to down a long corridor, the hunched figure came out of the shadows, revealing himself to his new toy. His features were grotesque, and he had the look of a nightmarish clown or jester. His misshapen grin widened as the young woman gasped. "Now my pet, I have a role for you... many actually. Lets see how well you can become a Marquess or a Lord. If you please me, I promise that you'll love your life with me. Let's just hope you're as adaptable as the Boy claims you are."
Chapter III: The Continuing Nightmare
The years spent in Gringlebutton's dilapidated manor were horrific. She had to take upon the face of many members of the Gentry Courts and participate in the Mock Courts that the "Prince of Fools" held nightly. There she would be the subject of Gringlebutton's hatred and ridicule. He would abuse and defile her and the others who took on the other roles of the Court. At other times her Keeper would rely on their word to see if his performances would please the Gentry. If his captives were not impressed, then they would be punished. If they acted pleased and Gringlebutton failed in his performance, they were punished severely for lying to him.
Eventually, as the years passed, the girl aged and became better at impersonating the members of the Courts and became the favorite of the ugly Dwarf. She learned to read the ever-changing mood of the Gentry better than the others and was the best at pleasing him. Eventually the girl was 'promoted', forced to take the form of various beautiful Fae and being his toy to sate his sick and vicious lust.
Then came Wilhelm...
Wilhelm had been favored by his Keeper, until something happened... then Gringlebutton took him as his newest helper. When new ones were brought, Wilhelm "broke them in" and there were times when the large creature's 'talents' we needed for the girl.
One night, as the girl lay huddled in a corner, weak from what Wilhelm had done to her, she heard a noise. Looking up, she saw the huge, hulking figure of Wilhelm in the room, slowly approaching. Shrinking into the corner further, she looked at him through bloodied and tear-filled eyes. "What do you want? Has He called you to bring me for more torture or amusement... it doesn't matter... torture is amusement for Him, and his amusement is torture for me."
"No. I'm here to... talk. The others runaway and are afraid. You're good... I've only had to play with you a couple times and the Prince likes you. What's your name?"
The girl just glared at him until his last question. Wide-eyed, she thought and tears welled up in her already red eyes. " "I-I don't remember, my name is that of whoever I'm supposed to look like." Tears streamed down her cheeks as she looked up at the Ogre. "I don't have a name... I don't know who I am!" Shuddering with sobs, the girl just continued to cry as Wilhelm came nearer.
"Um... why are you crying? I-I don't know why you're doing that... I'll give you a name... Jo! You're name is Jo. See, you should stop the crying."
The sobbing slowly subsided as Jo looked up at the monster who had shown an attempt to console her and wiped her eyes.
"You aren't really the monster who does all those horrible acts, are you? I mean... you can't be actually enjoying it, can you?"
From there, Jo slowly came to know Wilhelm and looked for the right time to escape, planning in private but including her only friend in her secret plans. When she finally decided to run, Wilhelm was at her side, being the muscle while she whispered in his ear what to do and when to move.
The Startling Reality
The journey through the Hedge was frightening and painful. Jo tried to remember when she first entered the Hedge so many years ago, but couldn't find the image. There were vague flashes of light, color and sound. The cacophony of stimuli hurt Jo, causing dizzying sights and intense sounds. Eventually the only thing she could comprehend was the large arms of Wilhelm grabbing her and carrying her the rest of the journey through the Thorns.
The Outside brought Jo awake, into the startling reality of freedom. Not believing that they were really free, it was up to other Lost encountered along the way to convince Jo that she was really out of Faerie. Eventually she left Wilhelm's protection and made her way south to Southwest Florida. She set up a secluded house in the ironic location of Arcadia, FL (pending approval), and has made attempts at taking part in the Courts of Southwest Florida. Although the Changeling Courts hauntingly reminds her her time in Arcadia, she has been taken in and taught the ways of the Winter Court by Ms. Winters. She has a natural affinity for the Court and has served the Winter Queen well as an aide and student.

Rumors
"Last time someone tried to hurt Jealous Jo, Wilhelm showed up without warning and beat them to a bloody pulp. He didn't ask questions. Just left mumbling something about leaving her alone. The fairest who screwed with her never could get his face to look right afterwards. Of course, the brick wall never quite looked right either."
Jo gained the moniker "Jealous Jo" due to her habit of taking on aspects of the appearance of those she talks to, and some Changelings think that she's trying to become people in lieu of discovering her past.
Jo's keeper took color away from her and now she is completely colorblind, only seeing shades. She doesn't realize that anything is wrong due to her amnesia.
