Through a Mirror Darkly (Description)
Mask John Enjoys Looking like other people far more than anyone probably should. He never looks quite the same twice, except in the pressence of two people. The Elemental Calliope, and Lord Ashcroft, the prince of empires. In front of either, any sort of effect he tries to work with is immediately ruined, as he turns back into the boy that Ashcroft stole, and trained to work for him. When this happens, his blue eyes and light brown hair come back. He begins to stammer, and will avoid making eye contact with anyone. In essence, he looses his cool, and turns back into the nerdy proffessor.
Mein
John looks like a living mirror from head to toe. His eyes are a silvery shade of blue, and his hair looks like threads of silver. He usually dresses in fine suits, or comfortable (but stylish) clothing. The only odd thing that people can see is two scorched burns that look like handprints on his wrists. Though they marr the mirrored surface of his skin, John says nothing about them, and wears them as a badge of honor.
Mantle A cool breeze follows John, along with the scent of Pumpkin pie fresh baked and the sound of ruslting leaves. When he is in a good mood the breeze and scents are welcome and refreshing. When he gets mad, or is doing a job, this changes. The breeze becomes cold and damp, and the scent of rotting leaves can be smelled. Sometimes the faint Cawwing of a crow can be heard.
Cracks in the Reflection (History)
Back Silvered
When His mother died, Johnny Smith was only 8. His mother, who he loved with all the love an 8 year old boy can give, had lost a long battle with leukemia. His father was a famous doctor, and was rarely home long enough for John to honestly say what he looked like. It had always been just him, and his mother. She had been sweet and giving, and Johnny missed her more than anything in the world. When his father hired a nanny to look after him, John payed no attention to her, and would rarely listen to her at all. John knew that she was trying to help, but she would never be able to replace his mother. When John got older, he started showing an intrest in architecture, and started wandering into abandoned buildings to sketch them. He was always a good student, and he was always good at art. His nanny used to tell him to stay out of the buildings, because they weren't safe. John always told her that he would be careful, and she always said that that wasn't what she meant. One day john was wandering through an old hotel, and he saw an old mirror in one of the rooms. He stopped to stare at it, and he thought he saw a reflection of his mother in the mirror. He wanted to see her so badly it hurt, so he ran into the room. When he entered the room, it was empty, save for a tall man dressed in fine clothes. John was confused, but when the man grabbed him, John knew that he couldn't let the man take him. So he lashed out, and punched the man's face as hard as he could. The man's face seemed to crack, and John could feel a cold enter him like no other cold he had ever felt. The man roared, and threw John into the mirror. John expected it to break, but it didn't. Instead it felt like he was being thrown into a vat of some mysterious liquid, something that was hot and cold at the same time. Then he was in a room. A fine room with expensive furniture. The man screamed at John that since he had dared to touch him, John would never be able to touch or interact with anything real, only the reflections of them that appeared in a mirror. Thus did John Smith become a slave to Lord Ashcroft, the prince of empires.
Polishing The Tain
At first, the only thing that John could do was watch through the mirror, as Lord Ashcroft paraded his court and slaves through the room to show everyone his latest aquisition. John could only watch as Ashcroft lorded over his slaves, helpless to do anything. One day, lord ashcroft told John that he must go somewhere for him. Confused, john asked how, and Lord ashcroft just smiled and said "Use the door, simpleton". John looked around in the refected world, and saw the door in the corner. He opened it, and he saw another room. When john walked into the room, he saw that he was in another mirror. This time, he was in the real world. He saw a strange man in the room, picking up a long knife, and grunting at it. The man was tall, dark and slim, and was wearing a bright red stocking cap on his head. The man turned and left the room, and John was confused. He looked around the room, and tried to find any way of escaping the mirror. He did not want to go near the door that lead back to Ashcroft, so he opened one of the windows in the mirror instead. This lead him right back to Lord Ashcroft's room again. Lord Ashcroft smiled, and asked John what he had seen. John started to describe the man he saw, and suddenly, he felt himself change. He felt himself grow taller, and thinner than he was. Lord ashcroft grinned in surprise, and as John looked down on himself, he saw that he had turned into the man he had seen. Lord ashcroft smiled, and told John that he had done well. He turned and opened the door to the room, allowing an old wizend named Abby to bring in some food. He left the room, telling john that he would be fed as long as he kept doing such a good job. The Wizened looked around the room, and saw john in the mirror. A pained look crossed her face. "Oh Child. I'm so sorry." was all she said to him. She walked up to the mirror, and touched the surface of it. John walked to the mirror, and touched it as well, but all he felt was glass. He looked at abby, and felt his features change again to look like her. Abby sighed, and sadly looked at him, then left the room. John felt himself return to normal, and walked over to the food. He could not smell it, and as he took a bite, he realized he couldn't taste it either. John ate the food, and did not taste anything at all.
Lord ashcroft had him spy on everyone he could. John spied on other members of the Gentry, he spied on members of the Changelings who had escaped. He spied on normal humans. It was the spying on Humans that John hated most, as the humans would inevetibly serve Lord Ashcroft. John wanted to scream at them, to warn them, but he couldn't. He was stuck as a reflection, only able to watch, or to interact with things on the allowance of Lord Ashcroft. As well as spying, Lord Ashcroft began to train John in the ways of assasination and fighting. He taught john how to use swords and knives to kill, as well as various poisons and herbs. He taught John how to operate a firearm, all through the use of reflections. He stressed the importance of style and content, rather than brute force and viceral carnage. He trained john to be his silent killer, and john learned well. In his heart of hearts, John knew that he had to, if he ever wanted to be free.
Light's Reflected Glare
One day Lord Ashcroft brought a lit torch into the room, and set it down in a stand on a table. John looked at the torch, then looked at Lord ashcroft. The lord smiled, and explained that he wanted John to teach another one of his servants. As he said so, a woman of pure flame sprouted from the torch, and Lord Ashcroft left. John tilted his head, and looked at the woman. The woman looked around the room, not seeing anyone. John smiled slightly. "Over here. The mirror." She looked at john, and he looked at her. She smiled at him. "Why are you in there? Can't you come out?" John shook his head. "I'm here to teach you. But I have no Idea what to teach. I could teach you to read, if you want." She smiled, and reached out to touch the mirror. When she touched it, it began to smoke and grow hot. John backed away, and asked her not to do that. He had no Idea why, but the idea of the mirror breaking in someway frightened him. She drew back, looking sad, and scared. "You won't tell on me, will you?" John smiled. "No. No I won't." He reached out and touched the glass of the mirror, then smiled again. It was warm. He could feel it, and it was warm.
He taught the woman, who he learned was named Calliope, basic reading and writing skills, as well as some basic math skills. Lord ashcroft had insisted that she not be made brilliant, but simply more educated than previously. While all this was going on, they slowly became friends. Calliope tried to touch him a couple of times more, but each time she drew back as the mirror grew hot. John told no one of the times that Calliope tried to touch him, and he tried to keep their friendship alive.
Reflections of the Real Thing
As John began to teach her more and more, The friendship they had grew. One day, Calliope tried to touch John again, but this time, she kept her hands on the mirror. John watched as the mirror began to melt and, seeing this as an only chance to escape, he pushed his hands through the molten glass and metal of the mirror. At first all he could do was free his hands, but Calliope grabbed onto his wrists and pulled as hard as she could. John could feel the skin on his wrists burning and charring, but he didn't care. He pushed as hard as he could against the glass, and suddenly he was through the Mirror. Calliope looked at him, and let go of his wrists. John looked around, and ran out the door as fast as he could. It was sheer luck that helped him to find Abby in the kitchen. Abby looked at the boy, and quickly showed him the way to the hedge.

Quotes
- "Hey hot stuff, I can look like who ever I want to look like."
"Can you change your taste?"
"Red, with taste like mine, why would I?"
- "All right, pumpkin, listen up and listen good. When you were taken, they replaced you with something else. And that something has been living your life from the time you were taken to right this second. No one reported you missing, because you weren't. Your parents won't recognize you, your old friends won't either. You're not wanted here, peaches. None of us are. We're the original, but they prefer memorex. We're the nobodies. When we die, no one other than others like us will mourn. We don't rest in peace, we just disappear."
- "I may have freed him, but at what cost?" - Calliope accompanied by the smell of burning Adonis.
Rumors
John has an extreme dislike for The Bagman. People say that The bagman killed john's first love when he escaped the hedge.
If you need something taken care of, you can ask john. He tends to find ways of getting rid of people. Just don't ask what happened.
Some people think that john is still working for Lord Ashcroft, and everyone he makes vanish goes back to him as a slave.
