The Guild of Broken Waters
Creek Learian presiding on behalf of River ((Travis))
Minutes by Chief Clerk Barbara Longwether
- The Rapids (Q2) take over the primary seat from the Rain (Q1)
- The position of Creek is created; these are the people who will fill in for their River if the River is unable to attend the Guild meeting. The Creeks appointed are:
- Rain (Q1)- Poppy Plain
- Rapids (Q2)- Learian
- Waterfall (Q3)- Memory
- Still (Q4)- Alex Lexington
- It is decided that the Lords Forester and High Marshal, once appointed, hold their positions until death. They may also be removed by the Rivers for delinquency of duty and/or inadequacy.
- The rules suggested by Ebnisian for Lord High Marshal are ratified for both Lords, with the following amendments:
- May use "appropriate" force in defense of Guild property and apprehension of offenders
- The Lord High Marshal may have access only to delinquent tax records, which will be presented to him monthly by the Guild Treasurer, Brink
- Both Lords are powers unto themselves and answer only to the Rivers
- The following duties are laid out for the Lord High Forester in addition to the ones suggested by Ebnisian here:
- He will investigate and prevent crime and abuse of Guild services
- His colors and badge (and those of his people) are silver and black, the inverse of the Marshal
- He will ensure that Doors are known to all
- He will map local Trods and the Hedge nearby and be able to present this information on request or remand
- He will report and investigate strange occurrences and attacks within the Hedge and on Guild property
- Wardens are like Deputies; they cannot arrest or indenture persons without the authorization of the Forester
- Indentured persons will be set to the task of trimming the Hedge. If one person fails in their task, all will share the punishment
- For the worst offenders, there will be an "oubliette" whose location is known only to the Forester and the Rivers. Prisoners will stay there for no more than one month without being re-tried due to the "cruel and inhumane" potentialities of this practice. We find it necessary but we do not necessarily condone it.
- Learian is appointed Lord High Forester by a unanimous vote
- Ebnisian is appointed Lord High Marshal by a unanimous vote
- Silk and Learian are nominated to be our Branch of the Oak, to be voted on in next month's meeting
- "Group discounts" for the Trods are ratified
