Known Information
Merit Details: Kincaid owns an eponymous club in Muncie, IN. He's on a familiar and friendly association with the customers and the performers, and has been known to perform on his own, there.
Kincaid has Striking Looks 2 (and clearly had 4, when he was younger), Status 1 (Muncie Music Scene), and Siren Song.
Background: Born in 1959, Kincaid grew up in Brooklyn, heavy into the sex, drugs, and rock & roll of his age. He was heavily influenced by all the great rockers of his time; Dylan, the Stones, Hendrix, etc. It was only a matter of time before he, himself, would become a performer.
In his early teens, Kincaid began teaching himself to play the guitar and sing. While his parents hated it, he was very talented, especially for his age, and he was in a band by the age of sixteen. 'Big Brother', they were called, a group of posers that thought they were striking out against the man. They had their fans, and they played the local clubs.
It was when the '80's hit that Kincaid, who had changed bands several times by now, truly found his sound. He was also heavy into heroin abuse by this time, and found himself in love with a fellow junkie and his greatest fan, Lacey.
In 1984, Kincaid forgot this life, and left it all behind. He was taken by Martouge, the Six-Eyed Prince of Envy. That true fae stole Kincaid from his world, and forced him to perform every night. Not that Kincaid objected. No, he relished the job, and swooned for the wondrous beauties of Arcadia. In this pure realm, where Martouge exacts control over everything, the residue of drugs was stricken from Kincaid's veins, never to wrest control of him from his new master. Martouge would have none of that.
In time, however, the Prince became bored, and lost interest in Kincaid. Presumably, he became covetous of some other mortal. Kincaid, now cast into darkness without the Eyes of His Prince upon him, wept for many days and nights, until he was stolen away by the others. The other mortal 'baubles' that had been forgotten and cast away by the Prince. Together, the 3 of them, they fled the Prince's realm, through the hedge, and out into Oakhurst Gardens.
Kincaid has only vague recollections of his time in Arcadia or his escape from it. He holds but one memory from his mortal life. I'll let him tell the story.
"…before I was taken? Well, I only really remember one thing from back then, but… I remember it pretty well…"
…she groaned in relief, as though she'd laid down a great burden, then looked up from her empty comfort to stare lovingly into my eyes. She looked almost racoon-like, the way her eyes were sunken and dark, and her hair laid flat against the top of her head, but not on the sides. "I love you," she spoke softly, already chasing. "I love you, too." My words were slurred, since I'd been sailing the Black Pearl for a while now. "…and I have something for you," I mumbled excitedly as I fumbled through my pocket. From it, I produced a stunning polished ring, easily worth more than I could afford. "Oh, Kincaid! I love it!" she exclaimed, trying to sober up a little bit. She took the ring hurriedly from my hand, and looked around at the empty club, trying to ingrain the moment into her mind.
"I guess I did, too…"
"Well, let me put it on you…" I beckoned, gently taking the ring back from her…
"Well, that's all I really remember. I think that's when He showed up, though. My Prince… I don't remember His voice, or what He did to me. I only remember calling Him 'The Six-Eyed Prince of Envy'. And I remember He looked like this…" He reaches to his back pocket, and pulls out a wallet. Flipping through it, he pulls out an artist rendering.
"I had a friend down in Kokomo make that for me, by my description… I remember those Eyes the clearest. Clearer than anything I remember, now. Clearer than what I ate for breakfast today - which was a dried out cheese danish and a nice cold Pepsi, by the way. I can't get those Eyes out of my head…"
"…Him? No, I'm not really worried about mentioning Him, or his Title. I still don't buy into that crap. I've been talkin' about what I know of 'im for years, and He ain't come to get me, yet!" He flashes a rugged, arrogant grin, and for a moment he almost looks young…
Kincaid, to this day, doesn't even know his real first name. He only knows that his name is Kincaid because of the previous memory. Still, despite all of this, he remembers being cast away by the Prince. He remembers the shame. He remembers the anger. But most of all, he realizes that it's the best thing to ever happen to him. Whether he saw it or not, the Realm was hell. And Kincaid'll be damned before he'll let the Prince or anyone else drag him or any other Changeling back to that hell.
So Kincaid has taken up arms. His portion of the hollow his motley shares is a bunker, of sorts, with all sorts of weapons, both fae and mundane. Kincaid is always prepared for war with the fae. After all, the Prince didn't gain the title 'of Envy' for no reason. He could come after Kincaid or his friends at any moment.
