Background:
Growing up in New York during the war and Great Depression, Mildred Johnson had a hard life and thought that none of her girlhood dreams would come
true. But when the country started to recover from the fallen economy
in the early 40s, it revitalized Broadway. Mildred finally had her shot to
pursue her dreams of dancing in the new 'musicals' that were patterned
after vaudeville shows and operettas.
It was the time of Rogers and Hammerstein, the Golden Age of Broadway and at 18, Mildred was going to make the most of it. She changed her name and spent a couple years in the chorus line, blending into the background of shows such as South Pacific and Oklahoma!, hoping a director would notice her in the sea of other would-be stars. A director didn't notice, but someone else did. One night, Mildred (now Mia) took her usual short cut through Central Park and felt like she was being watched. Shrugging off the feeling to nerves, she never saw it coming. She was bagged, tagged and dragged through the hedge and spent her first several years under glass, dressed in a flapper dress from Kiss Me Kate, where she had to do her routines over and over again to a shadowy audience. Much like a bird, her glass dome was covered most of the time and she sat in darkness, until it was time to perform. She made the mistake of refusing to dance once....and so she survived. Decades later she was removed from the glass and joined other dancers who put together performances for the fey. Crude and dark plays that tormented her dreams. Sometimes she was the sugar plum fairy, sometimes she was the evil witch, mostly she was numb. Pasting a smile on her face and letting the nameless pull the strings. She didn't think about escape, since she wasn't even sure where she was and thought she might not even still be on the planet anymore. Until a new dancer appeared. He was cast as her Prince and though they didn't speak a word during their performances, she could see that he shared her desperate plight. So they danced together, for years she couldn't count.
One night, she noticed that the crowd was unusually rowdy. Two fey were arguing among themselves and during their performance a fight broke out. Her Prince grabbed her arm and drug her from the stage and among the chaos were able to slip away from the dark theater. Everything was new around her, she tried to see as much as she could as they sped their way along the fringes of the city. He knew where to go, what turns to take and when to stop and listen. The foliage was getting deeper and she heard voices ahead. The words were garbled, but she knew she was among friends somehow.
She was passed to another and reached out for her Prince, who was being taken in another direction by the crowd. Noises were all around them and seemed to be closing in fast. She was pulled through the hedge, her beautiful costume torn to shreds, as her soul screamed out from the years of darkness and depravity. Then silence.
People I Hang With
Dane - What to say about Dane. He is Spring personified and always throws the best parties in town. His hair is so soft and shiny that who couldn't help but run their fingers all through it? It's best he wears sunglasses since his eyes are hypnotic! But oh well a sweet spell to be under. Scent: Sin
David "Gilded" Manning - Gilded is a great guy and not bad on the eyes! I hooked him up with a killer moisturizer that will help with his rough skin. Some women pay big bucks for his type of natural glow. Scent: Hero
Joss Whitney- Joss is the awesomest person ever! He really helped me out when I first came to Atlanta and is always there with advice and support. If it weren't for him, I know I wouldn't have my own shop, place and friends. I owe him alot. Scent: Magnolia
Dax Hester - Dax is yummy. He's all hard and manly and is good at killing people, but is warming up to the Spring scene and is a great dancer if you get enough alcohol in him. Scent: Musk
Holly Poppet- Holly is a very smart and refined lady. She spends lots of money in my shop and really loves my hand creams. Her jewelry inspired me to carry some like it in my shop. Scent: Rose
Mira Blade - Mira is my friend who lives in Seattle now. She may seem really tough with her swords and all, but she's loyal to a fault and my favorite buddy to hit the Fox with. Scent: Sandalwood
Tommy Blue - A new friend, who knows my friends, she seems very nice.
Parthena - Parthena isn't very talkative, but perhaps it's because she's always watching and as a result is very smart and sure of her actions. Scent: Cool Breeze
Curt - A fellow Winter Court member who hangs with Parthena, he doesn't talk much at all.
Race - Race spent some time in Atlanta and knows the people I do. He's rather rigid and military-esque, but he's been known to let his guard down every so often and enjoy a night out with Dane and the Spring Crew. Long talks about life, order and such. Wicked cool scars! Scent: Burnt feathers
Emma - Emma is my BFF from Auburn. She's really super cool and I love her muchly. PLUR!! Scent: All Spice
Corland - Corland hangs with Emma and he's also from Auburn. He started the PLUR movement and dresses very snappy. Raver friend extraordinaire!

Rumors
Ever wonder why the sweetest smelling creams and potions in her shop are sold in the back room by appointment only? Surely all that sweetness disguises poison most foul.
Mia Jenkins, secretly working off a debt to the Gentry, was a driving force behind the Red Nettle Revolt.
