History
Swan and Laurel emerged from the Hedge together and have been strange allies and fast friends ever since. The pair have been seen together since 2000. Astraeus is a later addition to the motley, and Vanessa is even more recent.
The motley has been kept purposely small and the members are very tight knit. Though they are friendly enough to outsiders, they do not seem to seek others to join them.
Their heraldry is a purple tulip bud surrounded by three green leaf shoots emerging from a snowfield.
Purpose
The members of the motley, each in their own way, seeks to help a changeling become more fully themselves.
Swan most often assists newly emerged changelings in understanding who and what they are, and helps with any decisions and processes regarding the assumption of a new identity or picking up of an old one. He can also help an anachronistic changeling adjust to the modern world.
Astraeus also provides education, though his is of skills needed to survive in the changeling world. He demonstrates how it's still possible to lead a relatively normal life, and even an enjoyable one, once all is said and done.
Laurel provides more basic needs - a place to stay, food, and most importantly, a comfortable and stable presence. She is often sought out by fae in need of convalescence of any kind, as she takes her hospitality very seriously.
Vanessa, being a recent addition, is still something of a mystery.
In addition, the motley often seeks to promote events, take folks out on the town, and generally encourage them to live their lives as they choose.

- The motley's existence is merely an excuse for the group to act out every sordid little sexual perversion known to man, as well as a good number that aren't.
- The most recent addition, Vanessa, is not actually a changeling, but a fetch who has joined the motley in exchange for protection from the changeling that hunts her.
- What is a Winter courtier doing in the middle of so many of Spring's flowers? To hear tell, Swan didn't actually want to leave, but Laurel discovered where his Keeper held his life - she stole it, and retains it to this day, which is why he seems so pliable to her whims.
- The Winter Formal of 2008 went so poorly because this motley wasn't given the chance to plan it, and they sabotaged it.
- Actually, the 2008 Formal came off so badly because this Motley was secretly in charge of the event.
