Mythology - Bringing the Balance.
Nemesis (in Greek, Νέμεσις), also called Rhamnousia/Rhamnusia ("the goddess of Rhamnous"), at her sanctuary at Rhamnous, north of Marathon, in Greek mythology was the spirit of divine retribution against those who succumb to hubris, vengeful fate personified as a remorseless goddess.
Lost Freedom - Eternal Vigilance.
Formed secretly by a group of Lost that made the Oath to protect Changelings from the Fae, its origins are rooted in mystery. What most rumors can tell you about Nemesis is that it is a secretive intelligence agency dedicated to rooting out Privateers and Loyalists as well as discovering the subtle manipulations of the Fae early enough to stop them. Whether driven by hatred for the Fae for what was done to them, fears of when it might happen to them or another again, or the passion to protect those they love and care for, the members of Nemesis have dedicated themselves to secretly, and intelligently, combat the Fae's incursions into the mortal realm. The Fae are devious so Nemesis must be watchful, launching their investigations secretly or openly where taint is suspected or Fae attention is prompted.
Disasters Averted - A danger to us all.
Thank you for taking part in the darkest venue in the World of Darkness. Your portrayal of a venue antagonist allows protagonists to shine. Although this may have met with dire circumstances for your antagonist, it continues the web of story that creates a global LARP. Thank you for adding to the game the reminder of that which Lost must fight against in order to attempt to secure their broken lives.

Joining their Ranks - Investigating for taint.
Not much is known about how the decision making branch of Nemesis decides who is worthy, and more importantly, dedicated enough, to join their ranks. Most can inquire, if they can find a member that publically announces his assocaitions with Nemesis, but most were approached at some point after showing such dedication to defending the Lost from the Fae on their own. These members were often recruited to the cause by those that saw fit to bring them into Nemesis's fold. Potential members are put through extreme scrutiny before being allowed to participate with Nemesis, and often are not completely trusted for some time. Members must be willing to put the goals of Nemesis before themselves and truly dedicate themselves to fighting back Fae influence.
Open Members - Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
While many members of Nemesis, especially those that founded it, prefer to keep their name off the books, as it were, many members do publically declare their support and association with Nemesis. Others are just rumor.
Some of those Lost are:
- Ronin, rumored to have founded Nemesis with a band of like minded Changelings, is an engimatic Darkling and exemplary member of the Winter Court.
- Known for his pristine etiquette and unrivaled manners, Ed Clerogen could give a fucking shit what you think, unless you're regular patron of his establishment, The Bad Penny.
- Satan MacRoche - Plenty of mouth, no trousers. Found GUILTY and did time for killing a privateer.
- Libertine Price, an unconfirmed affiliate of the Nemesis organization.
- Johan Gambrys operates with Nemesis but he doesn't talk about it. Rumor is he was put on leave due to Clarity issues.
- Clockwork has mentioned them fondly a time or two, but he's never admitted to being a member. He usually speaks of them like a bunch of naive idealists, but he usually says it with less of a frown than he usually wears.
- While nothing concrete links him to the organization, Gallowglass is strongly suspected of being Nemesis' field agent in the Freehold of Azure Hills
- Aaron is known for working closely with agents of Nemesis, though his actual membership is unconfirmed.
- Dr. Emil Zahne met Ronin in November of 2007 at Driftwood, after being introduced by Althea Sexton. The Doctor was very interested in Nemesis' mission and how dream analysis can help Nemesis protect the Lost from the Others. They have been seen talking together a few times since.
- Brooke joins the paranoid band when they need a specific poultice or one of the group gets injured. Her detached ministrations make her hard to befriend, but she seems rather kind so long as you stay out of her lake.
- Ikelos, a Oneiromancien from Montréal, Québec, Canada. He is called in when there is a pressing need to find out the Truth;
- Coiddle Cormati is best known for his unnervingly-close conversational distance and persistent desire to medically treat everyone, whether they know they need it or not. His particular foibles generally have an endearing effect on those that don't strike him in the first five minutes.
Issues with Clarity - Strength of mind.
Members of Nemesis are strongly encouraged to make maintaining their Clarity a prioity. Members are told that The Gentry are potentially on the look out for all Changelings, especially those trying to actively stop them, and they have the ability to strike from anywhere. At the same time, they are not everywhere at once. Nemesis professionals are not crazy conspiracy theorists, and they don't wear tinfoil hats. They are very wary, analyzing the world around them for signs of Fae manipulation. All of this requires a secure grasp on one's Clarity.
The Bad Penny - Hell of a place to hold a meeting.
"Magistrate: Al, those times are behind us." "Al (nodding towards Dan): Those times are directly to my fucking left."
Either because of their personal ties to the establishment or that's just where Ronin happened to find most of the Nemesis members, the Bad Penny is where many of them can be reliably found. So long as they keep drinking and stick to just talking, they haven't been thrown out yet.
"As a base of operations, you cannot beat a fucking saloon." - Ed Clerogen
Registration - Every citizen a soldier.
