Alias(es): None to speak of
Real Name: Unknown
Age: Unknown, but reasoned to be more than 70
Concept: Force of Nature
Entitlement: None
Physical description: Nightshade is literally a manifestation of nature's wrath. His skin is made of wood, his body covered in weeds, leaves and vines, parts of which are smoldering as if on fire. His eyes are bright red, like embers. His overall appearance and demeanor changes with the seasons; in the winter, he is lethargic and barren. In the spring, he is upbeat and budding. In the summer, he is confrontational and in full bloom. In the autumn, he is most like himself; brooding and dark, bearing the colors of fall. Even his Mask is earthy. He always looks dirty, and smells like smoke.
Story
Brief History: Nightshade's durance, as he describes it, was a relatively uneventful eternity of stasis. His Keeper reshaped his body into that of a seed and planted him. In time, he literally grew into the being he is today. Most of his time there was spent in a dream-like state until one day he woke up and remembered that he was once a human and fled. Upon his return to Earth, he murdered his own Fetch and took root in the Shawnee National Forest. Nightshade believes in the power of the Oath over all other forms of protection against the Others. As an Elemental, he feels connected to the Earth in ways that mortals and humans cannot, and considers magic to be the life's blood of the planet. He is obsessed with knowledge, of the secrets of this primal force, and of maintaining a watchful eye over it's use (and misuse). However, because of this disconnection from the human world, Nightshade has all but forgotten how to be human. He, like many of his kind, may soon disappear into the realm of urban legend.
Merit Details:
- Nightshade's passing sometimes withers small plants with frost. The vines of harvest crops can be seen intermingled with occultic runes and characters of a language long ago forgotten by mankind. The sparks of a raging forest fire, off-set by a distant red glow, highlight him when activating a Contract. (Autumn Mantle 4)
Allies
Nightshade and Pelagius formed a Motley with one another many, many years ago and are theorized to be a Motley still. Regardless of their relationship, they work well with one another and often combine their efforts to a common goal despite their differing opinions of the Freehold and it's necessity.
Enemies
There are strange, hobgoblin creatures that stalk the local Hedge that Nightshade theorizes to be floral in nature. These constructs of vines and mud are on the top of Nightshade's hit list.

Nightshade is so far removed from human that he can't function in normal society any more.
