Known History

Not much is known about the mysterious Changeling known as “Old Man Jennings”. No one really knows his exact origins, his age, or his true nature other than the fact that he appears to be a crotchety old man who appeared on the scene in Orlando around the time the trods opened, around 2000. He walks with a rather severe limp, dragging his left leg along with him, appears to be ravaged by age, belligerent, cantankerous, and down right creepy. Though many would say that an old lame Changeling would be the first target for Privateers, Loyalists, and an easy grab for a Gentry he seems to hold his own. Jennings is also an expert craftsman, one of the finest of all the Smiths in the city of Orlando and is highly valued for his skills. Old Man Jennings was also one of the founders of the House of Cards and has worked diligently to protect it. For a time he held the title of King of Clubs in the House of Cards but has retired to the position of Ace. He is generally distrustful of outsiders and generally likes to stay among those of his court, the Autumn Court.

Rumors

It is rumored that Old Man Jennings is much older than he appears, some claim old enough to have fought in the American Civil War but others claim old enough to have fought in the English Civil War.

The lame leg of Old Man Jennings seems to be a point of interest among many but any inquiries into the matter usually result in a response of “Ya writin a book? Then leave that fuckin chapter out!” Some claim that Jennings former master broke his leg so he could not escape; others claim it was damaged upon his escape through the Hedge, and others claim that he broke it in melee with unknown assailants.

It is rumored that Old Man Jennings is preparing for a war, stockpiling weapons and other items for a final showdown. No one has been brave enough to ask yet but this would seem possible. Many think that this is not a rumor and that the years of paranoia, hatred, and cheap grain alcohol have led him to believe “The Big One” is almost upon them.

There are rumors that Old Man Jennings knows how to make cold iron weaponry and keeps such items on him at all times.

Some claim Old Man Jennings is one of the few locals to encounter The Cowboy and his Black Riders and return to tell the tale.

Rumors persist that Old Man Jennings will sell weapons and equipment to the highest bidder or for security.
