Little Lucy

Seeming: Fairest
Kith: Muse
Court: Spring
Titles: Scion of Spring (1898 - 1899), Spring Sovereign (1900 - 1946)

Lucy got her nickname from her tiny stature. Even many of the shrunken Wizened where taller than she. If any wondered where the stories of sprites in fairy tales came from, Lucy was your answer. She is believed to have been friends with many children's authors, who incorporated her curiosity and mischievousness into their stories. They often gathered at her book store to tell stories, and drink the whiskey that was stored there during the Prohibition years.

As a Queen, Lucy was anything but small. Known for her unwavering fairness, she lost many friends over tough decisions she had to make as Queen. She commanded her court through two World Wars, losing some of her members to the violence across the sea. But barely had the world reached peace when Lucy contracted tuberculosis. The Queen barely had time to name a Scion before the illness took her life.

Timothy McDugal

Seeming: Fairest
Kith: Flowering
Court: Spring
Titles: Scion of Spring (1945), Spring Sovereign (46-65)

Timothy came to America with many other Irish immigrants, looking for work and food. Instead, he found a dying Spring Sovereign and a destiny he did not want. Timothy had never been much for a hard worker or interested in the political games of the Courts, but when Ramblin' Rose placed that crown on his head, he found much need for both. The beginning of his reign was not difficult and he wasn't tried as a Sovereign - but then the 60's came, bringing riots and unrest, and yet another war. Keeping his Court safe became a challenge as several were drafted - and those MIA were whispered to have been taken again.

He turned Lucy's bookstore into a place a little more in line with his own desires - a true Irish pub. It remained a place for Spring to gather and the Changelings of the city to be truly served by the Sovereign of Spring as Timothy insisted on acting as bartender.

He was just as surprised as Miracle Milly when Rose explained she would be the next Monarch. The headstrong girl had barely made herself face seen in Court, much less shown any leadership skills, yet Scion she was named.

The riots in '64 took the life of his Chamberlain, his backbone, who had not seen need to name a replacement, despite her advanced years. It also sparked fear in his court and a need for a safe haven. Plans began on Castle Darddu, with a young Wizened leading the work. He named Molly Moonglow Chamberlain, but the stress and heartache of loss proved too much, and he died of a heart attack in 1965.

Ramblin' Rose

Seeming: Wizened
Kith: Brewer
Court: Spring
Titles: Chamberlain (1900 - 1964)

In her youth, Rose was a revolutionary. She was rumored to have killed not only her Fetch, but her husband too for sleeping with her. Whatever brought her to New York, she saw a new Queen and Court in need of fixing. And so, she did.

Rose left the people work up to the Sovereign and focused more on getting things done. To make sure the kids who followed her wouldn't screw things up too badly, she crafted the Chamberlain Pledge at the height of her skill and strength. She believed that without magical reinforcement, no one would stand a chance of doing the job she had done without flaw (at least in her own mind).

Rose taught Lucy to be tough and Timothy to work, and brewed for both of them in the process. She was just getting some sensed knocked into a hippy named Milly when she decided to take her first vacation in 6 decades. She had no idea the violence in Rochester would spread so quickly or grow so heated. She died in the riots, scared that she had left the Court to ruin without her.

Soldiers of Spring

The Soldiers of Spring were those members of the Spring Court who were maritally inclined and could be counted upon to protect and defend the Court, and the Freehold, as necessary. Nearly the entire contingent of the Soldiers were killed in the Battle of the Bronx in January 2007. Their ranks included:

  • Tough Trudy, Commander of the Soldiers - Ogre, MIA Battle of the Bronx
  • James - Fairest Muse, KIA Battle of the Bronx
  • Hasan Saif - Fairest Dancer, Headed the extrication of the wounded in the Battle of the Bronx. Only surviving member of the Soldiers
