Mien: Patrick dresses like someone who doesn't know that punk's supposed to be dead: black leather jacket with spikes and patches (and several things that shouldn't exist on this side of the Hedge), torn-up band T-shirt, ripped jeans, black combat boots. His skin is covered in light fur, in various shades of gray, black, and white. His ears are slightly pointed, his eyes are wide and green, and when he opens his mouth, his canines are just a little bit more pronounced than the other teeth.

Mask: To those not of the fae, Patrick appears to be a rail-thin white man in his early 20s. Slight evidence of athletic muscle rests on a skinny frame. His furry pelt gives way to a shock of black hair that he usually puts up in liberty spikes.

Background

Patrick was born in South Boston during the '60s, to a large Catholic family. He grew up in Southie when the neighborhood saw the worst of it-- drugs, crime, and casual racism. Patrick didn't want to fall into the cycle of destruction he saw all around him, and sought an escape. He found it in Boston's burgeoning punk scene. At age 18, he started his first band, The War Addicts. Patrick honestly believed that the world could be changed through music, and his band pursued an agenda of social justice. He remained devoted to the group, even dropping out of UMass after a year to pursue his dreams of rock stardom.

At age 20, however, a girl at a party introduced Patrick to heroin, and nothing else mattered. Patrick drifted away from his family, fought with his bandmates, and abandoned his social activism for a cycle of nihilistic self-destruction that had gone out of style when Sid Vicious cacked himself. After one particularly contentious set, Patrick stormed off backstage to find a nice quiet place to shoot up. He found a woman with china skin and raven hair desperately fumbling with a tube and needle. He helped her tie off, and she offered him her needle. Not even stopping to think twice, Patrick plunged it into his arm and shot up, unknowing accepting a bounty from a faerie. He fell into poppy-soaked oblivion.

Patrick doesn't remember much about his durance in Arcadia. What he does remember comes out thick and lacking, as if he's missing one or two senses that might be needed to get the complete picture. What he remembers most is an all-persuading want-- a bastard mixture of hunger, lust, and madness. Other snippets come to him in dreams: the tight rein of a leash, the luminous gardens of the fae, a beautiful man who became a beautiful woman who became a beautiful man as he/she wished it, and a rare moment of higher clarity when he asked why-- followed by pure, all-consuming fear, and mouths filled with gnashing teeth. Patrick barely remembers running from this source of fear, out of Arcadia and into the Hedge.

Patrick gnawed his way through the Thorns, eventually coming out on the Boston Common, only to find that 23 years had passed. With all his ID expired, his bank account long since closed, and all of $17 in his pocket, Patrick slept on the streets of Boston for three days. After trawling his way up to the Pit in Harvard Square, Patrick ran into Creanna, who helped connect him with Saga. Patrick currently works and trains under Saga's roof, and owes his new name to the man. He's not yet sworn himself to any court, at Saga's request; currently, he seeks to hear from the courtiers themselves about how the courts function.

Barkings: Quotes From and About Patrick

  • On his durance: "Y'know that story about the lady and the peanut butter? I'm starting to think I was that dog."
  • On the intellectual hardships faced by Beasts: "You ever wave a stick in front of a dog? And the dog's jumping up and down going, 'Ooh, throw the stick, throw the stick, c'mon, throw the stick'? Well, whenever I try to focus on stuff like computers, I get this feeling like someone somewhere else is waving a stick."

Keep Your Friends Close...

  • Cree Brown - Found me wandering in Harvard Square. She's kept me from fucking up too badly.
  • Saga - Gave me a place to stay when my ass was fresh out of the Hedge. Gives me the kick in the ass I need.

...And Your Enemies Closer

Rumors

  • Patrick's jacket is the same one he was wearing when he was taken by his Keeper. He had to perform three quests for a hobgoblin merchant to get it back while stuck in the Hedge during his exit from Arcadia.
  • Patrick got his jacket back by tearing out a hobgoblin soldier's heart with his bare teeth. Shame he's got a taste for Glamour-infused flesh now...
  • Patrick got thrown out of the Boston Public Library for a non-stop tirade of swearing after finding out Bush had been elected President.

Ties I would be interested in:

  • Other "playthings" to the True Fae, likely paraded about at formal dinners and garden parties.
  • People who believe in social justice and seeking change in the mortal world.
  • Changelings of Boston (these would obviously come together during play, rather than before).
