Sketch of Phaedra, by Amanda Murrell
Overview
Alias(es): Phaedra
Real Name: Unknown
Age: Late Teens
Location Columbia, MO
Seeming: Fairest
Kith: Dancer
Court: Winter
Concept: Emotionally Broken Youth
Entitlement: None
Physical description:A slender creature, with the obvious beauty of the Fairest and a Dancer's grace, Phaedra exhibits all the physical expectations of her Kith and Seeming. Her hair is the dark auburn of varnished wood and falls in loose curls past her waist, and her grey-green eyes are always shadowed with greif and longing, even when she's smiling.
Her Mask shows her to be on the older side of her teenage years, or maybe a very young looking twenty, whose hair, constantly falling across her face, casts shadows, slightly obscuring the features there.
In her fey mein she is always wearing a mask.

Background:
Pre-Arcadia: Phaedra was a smart child from birth. She reached developmental milestones months ahead of other children, and her parents were so proud. But being one step ahead had its drawbacks. She found it difficult to make friends, as those her own age didn't understand or interest her, and those who she was on the same level with didn't want to be hanging around a child. So, as she grew older, she became more and more reclusive and withdrawn.
By the time she was 13 her parents were desperate to find a way to “fix” their child and contacted an “amazing child psychologist” they had heard about. He was so good at what he did, that frequently it took only one visit with him for a troubled youth to miraculously become the perfect, well adjusted child that every parent dreams of. So good, in fact, that he didn't even have an office, but traveled around the country to meet with these children he treated.
Her Capture: The initial meeting went well enough, and at the good Doctor's bidding, Phaedra's parents left her in his care for an evening. They talked about her family, her social life, her hobbies, and the other expected things a psychologist is supposed to for a few hours, but as the night progressed the conversation turned stranger. He asked about her dreams and fantasies, then began asking her if she had the chance to live them, would she? If he could offer her the opportunity to escape from the harsh monotony of this world, to go somewhere where all her dreams could be true, would she go? Her family wouldn't worry, he'd see to that, but she would have to go of her own will, to give up everything she knew and loved for the chance at something greater... She agreed to go and was instantly thrust into the world of Masque, ruled by the tempestuous Marquis, Tristan.
Arcadia: Her memories of Arcadia are hazy and deceptive, as everyone's are, but she knows she both feared and loved her Keeper. His mask dominated the years she spent as his consort, wreaking upon her terrible joys and tortuous horror. She also remembers his servant, Alaistar, for it was his fetch, the Doctor, who brought her there, and for whom she finally broke free of Tristan's rule.
Her Escape: Alaistar had left her a year before. A whole Arcadian year without him there to comfort her and keep her relatively sane. And Tristan had not been pleased. For her attempt at escape with Alaistar, and his success, she had suffered unimaginably. Then one night, as she slept, Phaedra's hand had come to rest on Tristan's chest. She woke gasping for air that no longer gave her breath, staring into the angry eyes of her Keeper. He had forbidden her to touch him, a punishment she had accidentally broken in her sleep. When, finally, her breath returned to her, she ran. Terror spurned her out of the twisting halls, across the sprawling hills, towards her beacon of hope...Alaistar. He could protect her. He always protected her.
But on the borders of Tristan's land, the Hedge grew thick. Its thorns seemed to weave together into a wall of flesh-rending claws and she couldn't find a way through. She could hear the howls of hunting dogs and hoof beats drawing near... numb with fear, she cowered against the blossom covered thorns that contained her. Then, an amazing thing happened. The horse that carried Tristan bucked, throwing him from the saddle, and sprinted towards her. Without a thought she reached pleadingly for the horse, and threw herself upon it's back when it slowed for her.
As they crashed into the Hedge, she clung desperately to Warland(for she could remember her name now)'s mane. She felt, more than saw, another trying to hold on to the fleeing horse, but at some point they were no longer there. And then the saddle slipped and she fell to the ground. Warland was standing before her, a woman wearing an over-sized bridle. The sounds of the hunt were gone.
Current Activities: Phaedra has settled in to a somewhat reclusive life in Columbia. Having carved out a Hollow for herself in the bordering Hedge, she is rarely seen in the city proper, save for when she goes to work as a stripper at a local club.
