Chapter I: Origin

Born in Denver, Raina was brought up in an abusive family with her older sister her only saving grace. Her sister, Emma protected her from the worst abuse; and promised that when she was old enough she would get a job and they would move away. This was not to be however...as the night her sister left to get a job, she disappeared.

Chapter II: Capture

Becoming desperate, Raina (13), leaves her home night after night, searching for her lost sister. Two months later, after watching with amusement and slight interest a Gentry takes her into Arcadia after faking her sister's voice. Such a cruel trick, but her master is very cruel indeed.

Chapter III: Loyalty

After forgetting who and what she was, she learned to love the hunt. She reveled in it. She would track down, chase, stalk or capture anything her Keeper desired. This lasted 9 years.

Chapter IV: Irony

Familiar...

This scent is familiar...why do I know this scent?

The hunting dog paused, torn between her duty which would please her master, and this strangely familiar scent. The more she thought of it...the more she wanted to follow it. But she knew what would happen if she did. She would be the quarry, she would get punished. If only she could remember why this scent was familiar...

She returned home with her master, she was beaten for stopping on the trail. It wasn't until her deepest sleep that she remembered why the scent was familiar.

Sister!

She had dreams of searching, crying...as a girl. Trying to find...Emma. Why did you leave Emma? Now I know...you've been taken like me. Don't worry big sister...I'll find you, and together we will leave Arcadia!

The hunting dog twitched in her sleep...the others curled up along side her for warmth until the sun kissed the land once more..

Chapter V: Return

When she awoke the next morning, earlier than the others...she slowly and cautiously made her way to where she picked up her sister's scent. It took all day and some of the night, and by the time she found her; the pack was tracking her. Her sister was terribly frightened when she first saw Raina, after all she looked almost like a Briar wolf. But after they spoke for a few moments, and Raina freed her of the thorns, Emma saw it really was her little sister. With all of her instints, and her having been the quickest of the pack, Raina managed to escape with her sister on her back from the hedge. They wound up emerging at Cherry Creek Resevoir and quickly took to finding shelter as a storm brewed over head.

If it weren't for Hans Bruden, they would have surely been found. After time past, she realized more and more what she had done in Arcadia. She was so full of regret, remorse and saddness for what she had done, she joined the Winter Court. It wasn't until nearly a year later that she left Winter, for Spring. She would still do anything for Hans, who is King of Winter Court.

Whispers

  • Raina actually has a beautiful voice and doesn't even share it with her sister...she fears taking from her, her one joy.
  • She did terrible things in Arcadia and The Hedge. Her one, true desire is to find something elusive to most Changelings: Sanity.
  • There are more siblings in the Hart family than Raina and Emma remember. They were all taken by the Fae and are somewhere out there.
  • She seems to be calm and collected...but remember, she is still a Beast. Those eyes are like a lion at rest if you watch closely; watching, silently, ready to animate the rest of her to strik.
