OBLIGATORY DISCLAIMER - aka. Don't Metagame!

The information contained on and linked from this page is Out of Character Knowledge unless your character is part of the Atlanta Lost VSS or unless your PC has been given specific information by a member of the Ring of Roses Freehold. The information posted on the Atlanta Lost Wiki Pages does not exist in this form, but rather as a collection of character-to-character recitations, personal memories and notes stuck in the various journals of past and current PCs and NPCs.

We encourage tools that aid players in remembering the knowledge their characters have accumulated over the years, and appreciate your abiding with the Camarilla Honor System where the information found here is concerned. Metagaming, in any form, will not be tolerated - the section on IC Rumors on individual PC pages being the only exception.

History of the Freehold

On December 7, 1946, a hedge orphan named Rose emerged from a fire at the Winecoff Hotel in Downtown Atlanta. Eventually rising in the local freehold to the position of Summer Queen, Rose campaigned to rule the freehold regardless of season or the wishes of its citizens. After several years she earned the fealty of Atlanta's Spring and Autumn Courts, and with their help she destroyed the local Winter Court, executing the Winter King in 1968.

Under her rule Atlanta's freehold became the Ring of Roses, a kingdom of Summer Everlasting.

In the Winter of 1982, it was discovered that Queen Rose was responsible for the kidnapping and deaths of dozens of Atlanta children towards unknown ends. The freehold revolted against her and destroyed her with a plague harvested from the Hedge. Her body was burned and the ashes scattered across Atlanta.

The Winter Court was reestablished, although in remembrance of Rose's execution of the Winter King, the identity of Winter's "Crownless King" is concealed by the court and remains a mystery to outsiders.

Most of those who were present during the reign of Queen Rose have moved on or passed away. Many who were strongly allied with Rose have met ill ends. A more conventional seasonal court has taken the place of her tyranny.

And so we come to the Spring of 2005, the Summer of 2006, and the Autumn of 2007. The twenty-five years since the reign of Summer Everlasting have not passed uneventfully. Escaping changelings have joined the freehold (still called "The Ring of Roses"), formed motleys, engaged in Court machinations, and protected their homes. The freehold is not without its enemies; wars and violence are not unknown. For those who vie for power within the freehold, an unwise word and a cup of wine can be more dangerous than the fiercest dragon.

The history of the Ring of Roses is under development. While we've established the history above, both it and additional history await the finalization of local character backgrounds, pre-history games, and the completion of the interim development period for the Changeling chronicle from October to December 2007.
