Physical description: Sal is a giant of a man and is of obvious Italian descent. Sal is always clean and appears to always wear the same clothes. The thing that sticks out about Sal, besides his size, is that he is almost constantly trying to watch everything around him at one time.

Background: Background for Salvatore Giordano

Sal was born in Chicago, Illinois in the year 1914. Sal's family lived in the South side of Chicago, which became notorious for the illegal activity during the Era of Prohibition. Sal is the only child of the Giordano's, so his mother named him Salvatore because he was her little savior. Little did she know that her little savior would end being a man of limited intelligence. It became apparent early on the Sal was not a bright child. He developed a lot slower than all the other kids in the neighborhood, at least mentally. Sal did however develop faster physically than all the other kids in his neighborhood. In 1924, at the age of 10 he was as physically developed as kids graduating from High School. There was some talk from the school board to put Sal in the high school cause they were afraid he would hurt some more kids at the school. You see some kids at the school picked on him cause he was slower than them at learning. So they thought they could pick on him and he wouldn't really catch on. But to their discredit Sal was really sensitive to those things, he had always been able to tell when people where trying to use him or be mean to him. So when his family found out about what the school board was trying to they moved him out of the schools and taught him at home. Which was just fine with Sal. During his first year of home schooling Sal met a man that offered to teach him some stuff to help him survive on the streets and give him some money for his troubles. The man was a gangster by the name of Nicky the Clam, Nicky ran a speakeasy for the Capone gang and received his moniker because ha was tight lipped about all that he seen or heard. Well Nicky put Sal to work as a bar back in his speakeasy. The job was perfect for Sal, it required little thought and was not really hard work for him. Plus he got to see first hand all the stuff that they were talking about on the street. His first rule for his new job was not to talk about anything that he seen or heard, which was fine with Sal. His parents always wondered were the extra money was coming from that was found through out the house. But Sal never said a word about it, even when his parents asked. Sal earned his first nickname that year, The Kid. Finally in 1928, at the age of 14, Nicky made him a bouncer because they needed to beef security due to the increased pressure on the authorities to make some headway on the gang problems in Chicago. Sal soon earned his second nickname, after what the gang termed the incident. He was now known as Sal the Bull. At the end of the hay day of the speakeasy in 1932, was when Sal happened to stumble through the Hedge. Sal was on his way to work as normal, he turned down the alley to get to the speakeasy. Except that it wasn't the alley to get to the speakeasy that time. Some force had taken notice of him and decided that it wanted him for their own. When he entered the door to the speakeasy he was actually entering another world. The next thing that Sal really remembers is walking out a door into some bathroom of a bar named The Bad Penny. The year is 2007 and the bar is in Virginia. Sal is now 33 and is a giant of a man. He is still trying to puzzle out a lot of what happened to him. If history is any sign of the future the answers will be along time coming to Sal. But until then he took a job as a bouncer in The Bad Penny and still remembers rule #1 don't talk about what you see or hear. Sal has discovered some things, with a fair bit of help, since returning. Like the fact that Nicky the Clam, his really only true friend, has since passed away. That loss has left Sal with an emptiness that he is trying to fill. Sal is truly lost without a friend to take up his loyalty and help guide him in life.
