Mask: Angus is one of those people you meet that sends a chill up your spine, but for no reason that you can put your finger on. He's nice enough to look at if a bit out of shape. Sure, his shaved head isn't a normal hair style, but it's not that out of the ordinary now--and everyone knows that goatees are an accepted style of facial hair. But there's something about him, perhaps in the eyes, that makes people want to avoid him or just take a step back. Whatever it is, there's something about being around him that brings to mind thoughts of an empty road with dead leaves blowing across it and the knowledge that there is something waiting behind a tree for you to get there without anything resembling good intentions.
Mein: Shadow's Bite, in his changeling mein, appears to be a creature made solely of bone, muscle, and gristle over which has been stretched a tight grey skin. His face is all angles and ridges, giving him much in common with the troll-like creatures in the movie Legend. Occasionally, he'll leave behind a trial of brittle late Autumn leaves as he walks, the sort that crack and crumble when stepped upon. While not a hulking creature like many ogres, there's a tremendous strength in his wirey body to match any of those who share his Seeming. His mannerisms and speech patterns seem designed to bring as much discomfort to those around him as possible, his eyes always seeming to dart here and there to gather up the tell-tale signs of fear and discomfort in his area.
Anatomy of a Fear Driven Man
Angus, growing up, had been a normal enough kid. He was on the Junior Varsity Football team and in the Boy Scouts. All of that changed when a Fae known only as Shadow snatched him when he was looking into a dark cave in the foothills of the Georgia Mountains, leaving behind a Fetch in his place. For the next decade of his old life, Angus was warped and changed into a creature refered to only as Shadow's Bite.
During his time with the Fae, Shadow's Bite was the master of a pack of Beast Hounds, used to hunt down and either bring back or kill those his Keeper wanted. Every one of these actions, though, was not done with expediency. Instead, they were done in the manner most guaranteed to inspire fear in the hunted. It was as much about creating a screaming sense of despair and desparation in them as it was about catching them. There were times as well that Shadow's Bite was sent out on his own to better hone his personal abilities. It was during one of these that his prey convinced him there was something better for him and led him back through the Hedge.
After returning to his previous world, Angus found his Fetch having lived blissfully in his shoes, having gotten married and started a career as a park ranger outside of Atlanta. Angus stalked him for months, slowly ruining his marriage and driving away anyone that was close to him before finally catching him alone in the woods of the park one night and devouring him. Angus slipped into his Fetch's clothing and into his life.
Brought into the Autumn Court, Shadow's Bite has been a mainstay of the Court in the Atlanta Lost culture for the past decade. While not the speaker for his Court, there are those that wonder just how much sway he has over those who claim to be in charge. There are many of his own Court, however, that question just how much he belongs--or, more to the point, they wonder if he has dangerously embraced the tenants of the Court and has become a liability.
Shadow's Bite is a driven man. Since coming out of the Hedge, he has realized there is nothing here that he fears. It's as if in this world, he knows there is nothing to fear. He spends night after night inspiring fear in others in a search to find it within himself. He knows. however, that what he truly fears is on the other side of the Hedge, and he has to become powerful enough to withstand it when it comes for him. He knows without a doubt that one day Shadow will come to claim his prize pupil, and if he's not prepared, he will be dragged back to the life he knew behind the Hedge.
