Overview
Alias(es): Sid, Sid the Slater
Real Name: Sid
Age: mid 40s
Concept: Crazy homeless insect private detective
Mask: Sid appears to be a middle aged tramp, often unshaven and wrapped up in layers of clothing, fingerless gloves, a bobble hat, and a long coat. His pockets are usually stuffed with old maps and guidebooks from 50 years ago or more, and he carries a tatty old knapsack stuffed with who knows what.
Mien: Sid appears dressed very much as normal, but his skin takes on a grey cast with a suggestion of armored plates on his body, like an insect, and small antenna. He is almost always seen in the company of his Hedge Beast, a giant sized Slater (or woodlouse) who is also called Sid. This other Sid sometimes talks, usually when Sid is not around.

Known History
Basic Timeline:
- Sometime, somewhere - taken by the Fae, he doesn't remember where or when
- October 1998 (or so) - finds his way out of the hedge, less than intact and lives on the streets in Edinburgh
- Summer 2002 - meets Mr Frake on the street and gets employed by him

Background: Sid no longer has any idea who he used to be or where he came from. He also has no idea how long he was taken. One of his constant goals is to search through old maps, pictures, guidebooks and histories in the hope that something will remind him. If a Fetch was left in his place Sid has no idea who he is.
When he was taken Sid spent a lot of time working in some sort of Library, from which he stole many interesting tidbits of knowledge. His punishment for that transgression was to be scattered into the bodies of hundreds of slaters (or woodlouse), and to live out his life in garbage, compost, and dark corners. Somehow, however, Sid's parts found their way back together (mostly) and made their way out into the hedge and back to earth.
Sid returned something like 10 years ago, but a shadow of what he might once have been, remembering only snatches of his time in Arcadia, and nothing of what came before. He blames this on key parts of him never making it out of the Hedge, and searches constantly for those missing bits of himself. The only one he has found so far is Sid the Slater, though he has not yet worked out how to reunite with him.
Sid moves from place to place frequently, often living under bridges, breaking into cellars, bins, garages and the like for shelter when he needs too, or living in cardboard boxes when the weather is better. When he needs something he offers himself as a private detective, being very skilled in sneaking, breaking and entering, forging, reconstructing shredded documents, dumpster diving and the like. The easiest ways to contact him are through Frake or by visiting Oldcastle.
