Background:
Her Past before the Hedge:
Summer was born June 1st, 1973 to her parents, Michael and Flower Wind. She was born at home in the EarthHome Village, a primitive technology intentional community in the Appalachia Mountains founded by a group of Pagans in the early 50’s wanting to leave behind the restrictive world and create their own.
Her education and upbringing were strict and focused to the needs of her Village, where she grew up unencumbered by the demands and chains of our technologically based society. She can read and write, and speaks an odd dialectal language of her community, unknown anywhere else. As a healer, her skills are many, herbology, husbandry, surgery, folk medicine making, and all aspects of growing and making medicines, caring for any injured, be they animal or human, and all kinds of healing methods.
She enjoyed the close-knit upbringing of an involved community, where all parents raised all children as if they were their own. She learned much compassion and empathy in this upbringing, caring for friends and neighbors as fellow family members in a large extended family community. A place of honesty and friendship with all others, a true community that works as one, for each other, to care for and feed each other so the Village will thrive.
Her healing talents and natural skills were recognized early, and encouraged, with full acceptance by her entire community, who all took interest in teaching her all they knew of Botany, Herbology and all the Holistic Medicinal arts. Her Gift is seen as natural and a blessing by her Village.
Her Time in the Hedge:
In her 25th year, she followed the Fairy Lights one evening, lead off into a nightmare realm, used as an experimental animal. She is blessed by having little to no memory of her time away. (Wyrd 2-3??) Most obvious is the appearance of her body, forever changed.
Her escape and return is in progress:
Perhaps a few months for her passed, but more then 7 Years passed in the real world. She fought her way back out, because she missing her home, so hard and so much it allowed her to at long last return. She remembers almost nothing of her time, due to the trauma and not understanding the horrors she'd be blessed to never remember.
Her Time back in the Real World:
Summers return to her Village was shocking, the horror of seeing her Fetch who is years older then she was when she left, who is more real, more alive, then she is, was a shock. Her friends are all grown, married and have the blessing of many children. Her Fetch married the boy she loved, and they have (fostered unknown to Summer) several children of their own now in the Village.
And herself… she doesn’t understand how, or why (doesn’t remember) but she was no longer the little, tiny young woman she had been. Where once she had been 4’10”, she is now 5’10”, and no longer petit. She believes herself the false one, believes herself fake or some kind of monster. Too much had changed, and her own knowledge of the fear of the superstitions of her people, made her turn aside and leave her true home forever.
She walked out of the “Apple Mountains”, in shock, mourning and in grief, for days she just walked and eventually found a road. She had never seen such an odd dark path, and the monsters she saw upon it, with glowing eyes (cars & trucks) left her trembling in fear as well as the winter cold.
A kind [changling?] trucker realized she was in a very bad place and agreed to take her somewhere, as she was wandering traumatized and in shock along the black path of the road and would likely get killed. He took her as far as he could, as far down south as his run took him, to the Freehold of the Unforgiving Sun. [This could possibly be a tie to someones IC Trucker PC.] And this is how Summer ended up in South Florida with the House of Thorns.
The Now:
Under the care of Laurel Thorn, Summer found a place to recover from a shock unimaginable. She couldn't even speak or articulate at first, what had happened, and why she was there. But Laurel's patience, and the calm, quiet place, and the time she gave Summer, brought her out of her shock and her shell. Her trust in Laruel is absoluate, as well as her faith in Laurels vision. She has been busy learning this new world, its words, its technology, a whole new way of life.

OOC Info
OOC Info:
EarthHome Village is a primitive technology, Pagan intentional community I’ve created. I’ve located it somewhere in the Appalachia Mountains but with no real location ooc’ly unless its needed. I loosely based it on ideas from http://www.earthaven.org and other communes such as The Farm http://www.thefarmcommunity.com/ from my research, as well as my original thoughts of using the social experiment aspects of the movie “The Village” for inspiration.
The main purpose of this Intentional Community was one of the pioneering communities of what decades later, became common in the Hippie Movement. However the most important difference to note, is that this community was founded in the oppression of the early 50's intolerant religious community. At a time when even Judaism wasn’t accepted easily and carried significant social stigma, these Pagans and free thinkers left that oppression and were determined to raise their children in a loving village, of freedom of beliefs, without judgment of which ones were ‘right’.
