The Truly Free Freehold
The Truly Free Freehold (TFF) is the brainchild of one man, Andy Zance. It exists primarily as a safe haven and sanctuary for any Lost who opposes the Others, yet also a shining beacon of neutrality, where no Court holds sway during any season.
History
In 2000, while Albuquerque, NM was suffering from a potent curse, and uninhabitable, Andy decided to take the small group who had been gathered around their recently deceased leader, Olliver Branton, down I-25 to the nearby resort town of Truth or Consequences. Shortly therafter, he established the TFF as an experiment that would take the concept of The Bad Penny saloon, operated by his friend and mentor, Ed Clerogen and expand it to the scope of an entire freehold. Despite predictions of doom and calamaty though, Andy and his followers have been able to prove to Lost society, over the past eight years, that it is indeed possible for a freehold exist and thrive without the so-called 'protection' offered by adherance to the Seasonal Courts.
Residents
Andy Zance: Rightfully elected March Lord for the eighth consecutive year. Andy founded the TFF and has remained its top political and military power ever since. Works tirelessly to promote, defend, and improve the TFF whenever it becomes necessary.
Omar of Glass and Sand: New resident to the TFF who has made himself invaluable by handling several difficult situations in his short time here. Clashes with Andy over methodology appear to become inevitable though.
Andrew Billings: Quiet Therapist who quickly established his expert knowledge on dreams and remains Andy's chief adviser for all things concerning Oneiromancy.
Lambert Chauchevsku: Lambert is another new Resident to the TFF. While he originally settled in Abluquerque after its curse had been lifted, he migrated down to the TFF to show his support for his friend, Andy, after some of Andy's rash actions have earned him the ire of several of Albuquerque's residents.
Motleys
The Crew of the Malcebacle Superior: Andy Zance's motley is the only long standing, established Motley currently in the TFF, and maintains the VAST majority of power and influence with the TFF.
Notable Landmarks
The Hot Springs: Truth or Consequences was originally named after its chief natural landmark, and the hotsprings remain a giant draw for tourists.
Hallows
Zance Brothers' Salvage and Scrap: Home, place of business, and base of operations for Andy Zance. As the largest Hallow in the freehold, and the residence of its leader, ZBSS is where most of the TFF's Lost community gather. Andy has numerous meeting rooms and guest accomodations on the various floors above the shop that he offers up to any changeling, resident or not, who agrees to accept his hospitality and abide by his rules. Also maintains several doors to the Freeholds of Albuquerque and Los Alamos, as well as to various convenient locations throughout the state of New Mexico.
Laws
The Laws of the TFF are few and simple, as Andy doesn't see the need to over complicate things with a byzantine list of rules and regulations. The few rules that he does hold sancrosanct are as follows though:
- Don't be a dumbass: 90% of everything that you could possibly do wrong is covered by Rule #1. Basically, keep your head down and don't cause trouble and you'll get by this with no problem.
- Don't shit where you eat, and more importantly, don't shit where I eat: While this may seem like a restatement of Rule #1, this mainly applies to visiting Lost. Andy will accept and shelter almost any changeling, regardless of what crimes they may, or may not have done (provided that this doesn't include serving the Gentry). However he will not tolerate repeititions of these crimes committed under his roof (so to speak).
- When the TFF calls, you bloody well better answer: Resident and visitor alike are expected and required to provide whatever assistance they can whenever an emergency strikes the TFF. Please note that non-martially inclined changelings can will be able to provide invaluable aid that doesn't require them to go anywhere near a battlefield.
- Lost from all Courts are welcome to visit or reside within the TFF; However any Courtly political bullshit had better be left at the mother fucking door: The TFF, much like it's founder, is neutral in relation to the Courts. And while Seasonal Courtiers are not descriminated against in any way, they are expected and required to respect the neutrality of the Freehold and its lord.
Pledges
There is currently only one permanent Pledge that is active in the TFF. The Pledge of the TFF is sworn and updated every year and one day, coinciding of the election of the March Lord for that year. All residents are required to swear the Oath, which is always sworn upon the Lord's True Name. Pledge mechanics will be available upon approval.
Lord's Oath: I, Andrew von Sankt, do accept the position of March Lord of the Truly Free Freehold of Truth or Consequences, NM for a period of one year and one day, wherein a new March Lord shall be elected by popular vote. I swear then to uphold and abide by all of the laws of the TFF and to defend all residents and visitors thereof with life and limb. Should arms be called, I swear to be the first to fight, and if necessary, the first to fall. I further swear to remain neutral regarding the Seasonal Courts and will remain unbound to the Courts, nor will I allow, either by action or inaction, the Courts to gain sway in the TFF or to affect the TFF in any way. I understand that failure to carry out this oath be a most serious crime, and that by failing to fulfill the responsibilities of my office, I also forfeit any right to lead or even reside within the TFF. I make this oath with full knowledge of the responsibilities and the consequences of failure and in full view of the residents of the TFF and invest this solemn oath with the power of my true name, Andrew von Sankt.
