Overview
You oughta be in pictures,
You’re wonderful to see,
You oughta be in pictures,
Oh what a hit you would be!
Your voice would thrill a nation,
Your face would be adored,
You’d make a great sensation
with wealth and fame your reward;
And if you should kiss the way you kiss,
When we’re alone,
You’d make ev’ry girl and man
A fan worshiping at your throne.
You oughta shine as brightly
As Jupiter and Mars;
You oughta be in pictures,
My star of stars.
YOU OUGHTA BE IN PICTURES
~From the show "Ziegfield Follies Of 1934"
~(Edward Heyman / Dana Suesse)
All Gentry are capricious and unpredictable, judged by human standards. The Director is no different. His "actors" are always on cue. If they weren't you'd never know ... but oh, they would.
His only goal seems to be directing the perfect play(s), the definition of what is perfect to him can change by the week, the day, or the hour. To that end, the Changelings he has collected tend to be those that he thinks will be his next "star" - whatever that would mean to him at the time. Of these were: One who was taken for his looks, songs, stories and dances. One who was actually taken to "keep healthy" those that weren't "on cue". The Director would use them and abuse them to the edge of their frailties.
Each move, each direction, each stage call ... must be precise ... or what he thought should be precise at that time. His directions came harsh and swift and the rewards were always his.
Rumors
- He was the one who inspired William Shakespeare to write his tragedies. Almost as if it were the price to pay for not being taken.
- He inspired many of the modern horror film writers with just a few images of things that he was capable of.
- He gave Stephen King his first touch of beautiful madness.
- He uttered a few words to Dean Koontz to watch what his mind would do.
Social Circles
The Guild of Players - A social group of Gentry who watch their "precious gifts" act, dance, sing & perform for their entertainment. There are some that even trade and borrow each others "performers" for a time.
