The Court of Brambles

Cycle of Seasons

Monarch - The Court of Brambles holds to a strict seasonal progression of monarchs with the King or Queen of Brambles selected by the Wyrd at the start of each season from the members of that seasonal court.

Court Advisors - The Court of Brambles also recognizes four positions, one for each season. The seasonal King/Queens, having been selected by the Wyrd as the epitome of that court, remain in these positions for the next nine months as advisors to the current King/Queen.

Spring King/Queen - High Reveler
Summer King/Queen - Master of Arms
Autumn King/Queen - Lord/Lady Arcana
Winter king/Queen - Chancellor of the Unseen

Vizier - The Vizier is a position apointed by the King/Queen of Brambles to serve as their personal secretary and administrative assistant. While not a position of inherent power the vizier does have the Monarch's ear.

Fool - The Fool is appointed by the King/Queen of Brambles to serve as both entertainement and Conscience. Always chosen from the opposite court of the current King/Queen, it is the Fool's duty to keep the Monarch on his toes through humor and satire.

Opinions

Residents:

  • "This freehold has fallen to villany before, both from within and without, and it cost us dear to get it back. I'll be dammed if I let it fall agian."- Kalen Blazenheart
  • "It's old, haunted, creeping with nasties just beyond the border, and filled with goblins that would rather shank you and sell your organs for a baby's tears than look at you, but hey, it's home." - Van Silverstorm
  • Ah, home, sweet home. I'd die for it, but I'd much rather kill for it. It's been my home before my durance, only now I'm expected to deal with hordes of grabby midgets, a host of mysteries, intrigues, criminals, monsters, pimps, hustlers, nightmares, users, takers, villains, and scum, and that's just including the real world. Crossing into the Hedge brings in goblins, poisonous bogs, dangerous Tokens, and weird shit that looks like the bastard offspring of the nightmares of Dali and Giger. It's like Survivor, only funnier. - Dzxoxian Brokehorn
  • "Fen of Brambles is not my home. It is where I reside. It is where I exist. It is where I hide from THEM. The other's here, are interesting. They keep me entertained. For now at least."- Red Eyes
  • People have a lot of beer, wine, and booze here, and I've tasted most of it. There are still a few places left I haven't, but from the Goblin shack to the Tower in the Bay, I know this place and breath it. Hang on tight, you are in for a bumpy ride." - Kei
  • "I've heard many call Som i'Seely a "hive of scum and villainy", as if other freeholds were shining beacons of purity and righteousness. Like so many other things in this world, I can only smile at such words. We are a society populated with those who have endured bizarre and inhuman torture - typically both physical and psychological - at the hands of alien, god-like beings. And to escape that hellish nightmare of a world, we stripped away our souls on the thorns only to return to a world of crushed dreams filled with flimsy lies meant to delude us into believing we have some semblance of stability. Do you really believe that any place we call home is destined to be anything other than a place where brother would sell out brother to remain certain he eludes return to imprisonment? Go to any freehold in the world and have the Gentry burst through the front door. You will quickly see that freehold's supposed brotherhood and unity crumble away in an instant as every Lost thinks only of his own continued freedom. So who cares if the residents of Som i'Seely are cuthroats only out for their own gain and self-preservation? The situation is ultimately no different anywhere else, and frankly I'd much prefer to live somewhere that isn't filled with those who profess their fraternity to me during times of peace only to show me that their words of allegiance will not stand up to the threat of re-capture." - Thomas Thorn
  • "Home no more. I learned all I needed for the path ahead. Each member of the Fen was a proper tool of the Wyrd to mold me into the man I have become. Now that I am no longer their servant, I serve a higher purpose, for they have freed me from the burden of their over-looked bookkeeper."-Danny Darling
  • "This my home and has been for some time, let others come and try and take it. They will find more trouble then it is worth and I will make sure of it!" - Nwabudike Osi-Kofi
