A Quiet Kingdom
Somewhere in the industrialized blight that is South East Texas, there is a tiny bit of the other. Men have lived here on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico for as long as any can remember, and in making this place their home they brought their legends.
Ashtown is one such legend, the home and freehold of those Changelings that call this corner of the world their own. This place, like every other, has it's pathways into the briar. Doorways into the Hedge through which an innocent might wander and be lost. These doors, like any other, allow things out as they do in.
For as long as any of the Lost can remember Summer has held court in Beaumont and Black Tom, a being of coal and fire, has sat on the throne as Monarch and protector of those Lost that found their way into his care. His smoldering wrath is legendary, as was the warmth of his hearth to those he called his own. He gathered to him other stalwart Lost. There was Trusty John, Old Bull, and a host of others.
They helped each other and made a place for themselves. Things were better, not good perhaps, but better. Those that wandered from the Hedge might not have had a place in the world, but they had a place in Ashtown.
But now they are gone... Vanished without a trace. Every member of the freehold missing, lost again. The only Changelings to have escaped whatever fate befell Black Tom and his court were a small group, gone and visiting the grand gathering that fateful day in October, just a few days before All Hallow's Eve.
Ashtown is no more. Everything is quiet now.

- Wink was known to have argued with Black Tom many times about the need for more extreme measures to be taken against known fetches.
- Black Tom referred to Wink in conversation as "The Old Man" though Wink appears to be only 20.
- Gemma was once sanctioned by the local court for plotting to attack a known Fetch at work with a homemade Tank.
