The Maze Master

The Maze Master is an entertainer, showman, and all around bon vivant. His primary source of entertainment is his amusement park. The Fae come from all around to visit his fantastic park and its attractions. Among the most popular are a spooky house, twisted carnival games, a mystic ferris wheel, and the Master's personal favorite: The Labyrinth.

The Maze Master pays privateers to recruit new help for his attractions. Be you old or young, the Maze Master has a job for you. Children provide good test subjects for the horrors of his maze, though they eventually grow old with nerves of steel... this makes them good additions to the Labyrinth. Adults are generally recruited for one of two reasons:

The first is simply to work the grounds of his park. Cleaning, creating attractions, lighting the grounds, hosting shows, acting as targets for a knife-throwing game of chance, whichever fits his fancy. The park has so many needs, the possibilities are endless.

The second is for training. The Maze Master provides regular contestants in The Game (see The Bramble and Lash Hunting Society). He trains slaves in both dexterity, wits and strength of arm to become survivalists, and then enters them in the famous competition. The Maze Master is proud of his ability to hone the skills of humans through endurance and torture so that he may gain the honor and glory of besting the hunters of men.

The Maze Master is a sociopath and a monster. Screams fill him with glee, the sight of blood provides his soul with a twisted sense of pleasure, and the torment felt by those who are lost and without hope fuels him to work another day. Those who find themselves in his service pray to be freed, but know they will never taste freedom unless they forcefully escape. The Maze Master's favorite nights are those when he catches a fae in the attempt to flee his park grounds. The rest of his minions are given reprieve for a few days, sometimes even few weeks. The time depends on how long it takes for The Maze Master to torture the would-be-escapee past insanity and into death.
