Mortal World

The Powerhouse Event Center was originally one of 3 major fire stations for down town Boise. The building was abandoned years and years ago and left in disrepair until ten years ago when it was purchased by a local entrepreneur and converted into an entertainment hall. Since then it has acted as an up-scale meeting and gala event center. Concerts, dances, weddings, office parties and awards ceremonies have all passed through the 2 story doors at the front of this red brick building.

Being a converted Fire Station, the Powerhouse has all the comforts of home. A large open space where the garage used to be, now sports tables, chairs or anything else the management needs to put there. A curtain at the back of the room conceals a stage and back stage area, where they house all the light and sound equipment when they’re not in use. Through a side door on the left you would find yourself in a full kitchen capable of catering to the 400 person max occupancy of the building. Next to the double, two story doors at the front of the room you’ll find a squared, winding staircase that leads up to the mezzanine. On this wrap-around balcony you find more seating, a counter for a full bar, and an enclosed room around back with floor to ceiling windows that overlook the first floor from above the stage.

All of this is the public face for the Event Center. However, harkening back to the buildings origins, there is also a second story fire escape leading out of the “VIP room”. Another door behind the bar leads to a small sleeping area that has been turned into storage (there’s even a round cap over the hole where the fire pole used to run down) The first floor also boasts 2 more doors under the mezzanine that lead to offices and more storage areas.

Powerhouse Hollow

The Hollow attached to the Powerhouse doors is another matter all together. The layout is similar to its mortal side: a large open area with a stage at one side; a balcony overlooking the open area. But beyond that, not much more has been explored. Since the only Changeling who’s been using the freehold is Hapless Jack, these two places are the only ones that have been cleaned up.

Features of note are the fact that there are high, solid walls with no windows. Varrious animal heads decorate the walls and pillars supporting the cealing, giving the space a “huntin lodge” feel. A tired and unused fire pit sits off to one side of the stage, with a couple tables and chairs scattered around. One chair in particular dominates the room. A giant carved monstrosity of wood and silver. Closer examination shows that the chair has been carved to resemble wooden people twisting in agony, supporting the weight of whomever sits in the chair. At least, you hope they’re only carvings. Outside the front doors of the Hollow, there is an overgrown clearing. At one point there may have been orchards or gardens, but now the Hedge has grown in and taken back the space.

Trods

There are very few trods leading into or out of the Boise area. The only two that seem to be somewhat well maintained lead to Salt Lake City and Seattle. There may be others leading to other major cities in the North West, but they are dangerous and overgrown. A third recently has appeared that leads to Tacoma.

Recent News

With the start of the new Spring Season, the residents of the freehold named Mina Grey as their Steward. While no crown rests on her stunning brow, some people have taken to calling her the Spring Queen. With her swearing of the Steward's Oath, the hollow's shape and colours changed to match her season, with arching architecture, blooming flowers and warm smokeless fire brazers to replace the smoky fire-barrels of the winter season.
