The Revel

In 1969, at the same time of the Berkeley University protests over People's Park during which the National Guard engaged violently with the students, The Shadow Kings were quelling their own popular rebellion against Eternal Winter called The Revel. The Revel, started by a prominent prince of the summer court, had been intended as both a peaceful rally and a symbolic turning of seasons through adopting a festive attitude in direct opposition to the Tyranny's recent "Memorialis Funerary Memorandum"; quite literally an edict stipulating all members of the freehold act and appear "In keeping with a time of sorrowful reflection". The Shadow King's response to this direct disobedience was equally direct as they called upon local political connections and used mortal police - appropriately adjusted through the emotional manipulations of Winter - to ruthlessly crush The Revel. While there were no fatalities, few arrests, and few injuries, the extreme nature of the regime's response swelled the ranks of the Summer court leading the way towards stronger counter attacks later. Common belief is therefore that the Shadow Kings became part of Adamant's Folly in order to turn retribution from themselves by supporting Summer's war with The Others.
