The Steampot -
Acquired in 1998, the building was a victorian style house converted over to a tea parlor and restaraunt. The business closed down for almost a year when it was acquired for renovations. The overall theme shifted from Victorian to Steampunk although the menu took a change for the better. In 1999, the buisiness reopened under the name "The Steampot" and became a moderate success, managing to break even by Mid 2000. In 2001, the upstairs was renovated and turned into a bed and breakfast to help offset expenses (Read: The owner didn't want to have to work so much). The rental of the rooms is regular enough that there is a steady income, though it is exceedingly rare for all the bedrooms to be rented at once.
In 2005, following the example of one of his contemporaries, Gaea, Stephen opened the doors formally to changelings. While the services available are somewhat limited due to financial obligations, the primary purpose of this safehouse is a waypoint. Individuals recovered from the Hedge or otherwise needing assistance are allowed to stay here, their needs assessed, and then refered to a safehouse that more properly fits their requirements.
Primarily a themed restaraunt that has a small bed and breakfast area with it, there are only limited services available at this safehouse. All members staying at the house are expected (if possible) to help in the kitchen or in other areas OR to actually pay for the room used. Leeway is offered to those who are clearly in no shape to do so, on a case by case basis.
- Housing - There is very limited housing available for guests, although Changelings staying here are granted the fullest protections possible. Three bedrooms are available, each room with a queen sized bed. Other lodging arrangements can be made under certain conditions, but those are not part of the "fair deal" agreement.
- Goods - Nobody leaving the Steampot in good standing is turned away without at least adequate provisions for the next leg of their trip. Adequate is a very fluid term depending on how planned out their trip is. Dry goods and bottled water are at very least in abundance.
- Medical - Aside from basic first aid there is nobody on duty with medical skill. Should severely wounded individuals come in, the utmost care and discretion in arranging for them to have proper services provided is taken.
- Legal - Nobody present possesses the skill in assisting with this directly. However, a referal list of numerous reputable individuals (or disreputable ones) is made available. All of the individuals kept on the list are highly discreet and offer reasonable fees for their services.
- Education - The degree of education available is a variable item here. Typically the teaching of the basic skills needed to survive are possible, with more indepth educational needs being refered to a more properly equipped safehouse. Exceptions are made, but these are on a personal basis as opposed to as part of the "fair deal" agreement.
- Placement - This is a service that is readily provided. Any individual coming in who needs to find a new place is granted assistance in contacting and making arrangements with other safehouses and individuals to see to this. This is the primary service that is provided by the Steampot.
OOC Note: While its original purpose is no longer needed, I have opted to keep the place for flavor as well as for an excuse to actually utilize my college education. See Hedgeapple Cookbook for some wonderful collaborative work.
