Often thought to be little more than a dangerous recluse, few Lost known much about Trenchmouth. He first found near the Sepulcher freehold in 1994 rambling madly about abductions, aliens, crop circles and the like. Taken in by the Pervigil motley, he left their care a few months later and fled into the woods of Northwest Georgia chasing after answers to why he was taken and the true nature of his durance.

During his time with the Sepulcher it was learned that he was a journalist working for a small press magazine dedicated ufology, cryptozoology, and the paranormal. Trenchmouth was taken and experimented on by Others who looked like alien 'greys' after getting too close to the truth. Apparently he was gone for a year and a day, but the experience seemed to him to only last for maybe a day's worth of horrific and invasive surgical torment.

After being returned across the Hedge, he had little memory of who he had been and what happened to him. By the time he was found by Lost of the Sepulcher, he had pieced most of his past back together but at the cost of his clarity. Trench had lost touch with reality, slipping into a delusional world of conspiracies about the true nature of the Hedge, the Others, and the Lost. He found his way to the Sepulcher looking into strange, spiral crop circles appearing regularly in the area. Some say he stumbled upon something Amelia Dankspot wished kept secret, and was tricked into a vow of secrecy regarding it before he fled the protection of the freehold.

In the years since Amelia's death, Trenchmouth has retained contact with the Sepulcher if only so he doesn't completely slip off the deep end; though it's possible he's upholding some pledge to the freehold. Lacking much trust in other changelings, Trench spends most of his time investigating connections between unusual events and phenomenon and the influence of the Others. Though far more cunning and intelligent than his slightly redneck demeanor might reveal, Trenchmouth is highly unstable, very territorial, and prone to violent outbursts. Despite this, he tends to be very knowledgeable about the Hedge and hobgoblins and is quite handy in a fight.

Rumors

  • Trenchmouth isn't a Changeling and wasn't taken by the Fae.
  • Trenchmouth is a privateer and gives mortals and Changelings over to The Three Androgynes so that that don't continue their experiments on him.
