Character Information

Known History

Basic Timeline:

Current Activities:

Owner and Bartender of "Tuck Stop: Bed and Breakfast". To mortal eyes this little get-away rests alongside a small lake in east Texas, but to those touched by the Fae, it is a retreat and safe haven for those who need a break, or new Lost who need a little guidance. Known throughout Dallas and surrounding cities as neutral territory, Ursus keeps the Tuck Stop in excellent shape for Changelings. It is rumored that he has every amenity that a Changeling could want...

More than once the local Changeling community has hidden themselves here when the horns of the Hunt have sounded. Ursus is savage when he feels his territory threatened. He will attempt a peaceful solution when appropriate, but he is certainly not above violence. Ursus will sometimes patrol his surrounding area in his bear form; human and animal trespassers need to be watched...

Background:

Born to bruise....

1950's

Theodore Tuck was the kid that all the teachers said would end up in prison or the military. They were partly right... Theodore grew up in a family that did not love him. Father was in jail for extended periods of time; mother died during his delivery. When dad was home it was beatings and abuse for the children. Theodore was the oldest of his half-siblings which meant he was taking care of them when dad was in the slammer again. Dad always blamed Theodore for the death of his wife; a fact in which Theodore was never allowed to forget...

Most of the time in school, Theodore was always getting into fights to protect his half-brother or because someone was making fun of his family. He never had time for studying but the teachers just wanted to pass to get him moving along. Theodore decided that the next time his father went to jail he would make good his escape. He stole some money and gave it to his step-siblings so they wouldn't suffer the indignity of being poor. They were given to the care of distant relatives and Theodore left home for good.

At the age of 16 Theodore tasted freedom and found it to his liking. He would hitch rides from people, work various jobs, and even do the occasional petty theft. By the time he was 17, he was working as wrangler for a ranch in west Texas. It was honest work and the boss treated Theodore fare, but it was here that he learned he had an affinity with animals. He was finally content with his life. Months went by and Theodore found himself herding cattle in the hills one day. He saw something that would forever change his life...

Arcadia

Dreams and Nightmares

Theodore was put to work as the riding mount of his Keeper. His strong back and healthy body quickly propelled her through the hunt. Always calling him her "little bear-of-a-man", Theodore suffered harsh abuse when he failed to carry her properly, but he was buried in affection when he did well. He eventually decided that even though she could be harsh, she gave him love that he never received from his family. He ceased to be Human when he promised her that he would try to be a better bear...

Although Theodore doesn't remember much of his time there, Arcadia was a time of servitude for him. He can remember being ridden into battle and on the Wild Hunt, but also he remembers roaming his Keeper's forest. Often he remembers that he was sometimes a guardian for other "pets" of his mistress. They would wonder the forest and he was responsible for their safety. It was one of these little guarding missions that would help release him from bondage...

1980

This is normal?

Ursus had emerged from the Hedge and was now human again. After several months of relearning things like driving and eating with forks, he began to look for a life of somewhat normal meaning. Luckily, Ursus began working early in a world that was rapidly changing its technology. However it wasn't long before he was back at working with animals on a ranch. He was good at it, and it allowed him to be "weird". He could be alone and he found the area to his liking. Years passed and eventually he became manager of his own ranch. By the early 1990's Ursus was able to apply for a loan to buy-out his boss and own the land he had worked. Soon, he had it converted to include a lake and other amenities; The Tuck Stop was born!!

Motley

Tabitha - This little Wizened knows her way around the workbench. She is one of the few people that can look at a grandfather clock of antiquity and honestly say, "meh, it's the work of an amateur..." She helps me run the Tuck Stop gift shop. She is always making toys and gadgets that everyone loves to buy...

Jenny - This one is interesting... She doesn't say much and she usually seems lost in her video games. She's cute and I think that there is something loose upstairs; nothing serious though. She helps Tabitha and she enjoys playing with the toys. She is loyal and she always stays out of trouble, so she gets to stay...she helps me with my chores too...

Allies

  • Hawthorne - Ah yes... Here's an Elementalist that makes you remember what it was like to go camping as a kid. More than a friend, this brother has been instrumental in establishing a safe haven for the "new" Lost. Whenever I call on him for a new recipe or some kind of cure for a headache he has all the answers! He's a good man...and he always pays his tab on time...
  • The_Innkeepers - Member in good standing and proud of it! This group ensures that the Changelings always has a place to stay in the world. Dedicated to the concept of fair hospitality and honorable treatment, these people do their utmost to protect us from the Gentry. And, it's really good for my business...
