Physical description: Velios stands at a height of 6'2, and automatically exudes an air of confidence and nobility. He has a slightly pale shade of skin. His hair, lightly golden, drapes over his shoulders. His eyes are a soft crystal green.
Basic Timeline:
- 1921 - Born in Belfast, Ireland
- 1944 - Taken to Arcadia while fighting in the Royal Ulster Rifles during World War 2 by Marcus Julius Draconis
- 1965 - Meets Gaius Arctorus
- 1994 - Meets Andros
- 2001 - Followed Andros into the hedge and was unwittingly brought back to Earth.
Current Activities: Velios has taken Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden as his own, and is using the cover of the beautiful flowers to try to breed Arcadian flora.

After having been sold to Draconis by the slave masters that had kidnapped him, Draconis proceeded to mold Sean into the Changeling that would one day be known as Velios. Sean already possessed above average good looks, but Draconis was not satisfied with ‘the limitation of humans’ and used his power and that of a cleansing water to bathe Sean. The resulting effects are that almost all of his physical imperfections were literally washed away. Birthmarks, scars, even freckles were all washed away, leaving a gleaming and beautiful creature in its wake. Sean’s durance in Arcadia was resoundingly different from most Lost. Draconis on this occasion did not seek another gladiator. Draconis did not seek a new pet, or a servant. Draconis wanted a living masterpiece, a living example of his artistic skill.
Draconis gave Sean his new name, Velios. Velios was then subjected to the schooling of proper etiquette of his gentry, and of the extravagant parties, galas and other gatherings the Others took part in. During many of Draconis’s parties and gatherings, Velios would be made to stand on a pedestal. On display for all to see.
Velios was not caged, and thus allowed to roam the grounds of his gentry. He often spent time in the garden, where he found that the beauty of the flowers and the abundance of life gave him renewed feelings of hope. Velios soon began to lose himself in his gentry’s gardens, and was often requested when Draconis would visit other Fae Lords. Velios’s very presence rejuvenated the life of several of the Others’gardens.
Sometime after his arrival in Arcadia, Draconis had purchased another slave. His name was Andros. Andros was purchased with the intention of gladiatorial combat, in the Gladitorial Pit run by the Other known as The Ring Master.
There were days that Draconis would be irate, perhaps after being slighted by another Fae Lord, and would put Velios away in his quarters, and bring Andros out by a chain, and proceed to thrash him. This was a common occurrence and one that would leave Andros with a deep resentment for Velios to this day.
The gladiatorial games were a common retreat for the Fae Lords, and nothing thrilled and enticed them more than pitting slave against slave, or sometimes unfortunately, slave versus some manner of hedge beast. The rules of the arena prohibited slaves, pets etc from being in the arena area, so the various gentries would allow their property to mingle and play in the tunnels underneath the stadium.
Draconis had a gladiator named Gaius Arctorus, which Draconis prided as a champion. And Gaius was every bit the fighter. Winning continuosly against tremendous odds made Draconis very pleased. Velios often saw Gaius after his battles, and witnessed the pain wrought upon him. Velios decided to take action, he used his healing arts on Gaius, mending his wounds and restoring his strength. Velios would also provide Gaius with goblin fruits and other medicinal herbs to help keep him from continuous abuse and harm.
Years passed and Andros had tired of his treatment. After his return from another day of gladiatorial battling, Andros discovered his cage was left unlocked. He acted upon this and soon was loose and making his escape. Running the length of Draconis’ estate, he passed the garden where Velios was currently attending the growth of a rare flower he himself called ‘The Heart of Arcadia’. Velios caught glimpse of Andros sprinting through the garden, and followed curiously.
Andros by this time had freed another of Draconis’s slaves, Hippolyte, together they made for the hedge. Velios followed Andros’s trail. When Velios caught up with Andros, he had encountered yet another escaped slave, The Wise Woman. They were preparing to head through the hedge, when Hippolyte noticed Velios. Andros caught glimpse of Velios, and was hit with inspiration. If Draconis favored Velios so much, Andros escape would be a double blow of retaliation. Andros asked Hippolyte to fetch Velios and carry him with him, for Velios’s attunement to nature and life caused new life of flowers to spring from his very footsteps. Hippolyte retrieved Velios and the quartet entered the hedge and never looked back.

As Preston Canmore, Velios works as a corporate speaker, having already worked for companies such as Microsoft, Coca-Cola, Merril Lynch and others. His gift of the oratory has made him highly sought after for speeches and presentations. Preston is also a very well known socialite in Miami. If there is a black tie, function, fund raiser or otherwise party in Miami's high society, it can be assumed he is on the list. Preston is often seen as an irresponsible, superficial playboy who lavishly lives off his self made fortune and the profits of Focus Forward, a major idea studio firm that he owns. However, Preston is also known for his contributions to charity, notably through his Life Foundation charity.
