Overview
I was born into violence and blood. They say I should have died in child birth, like my mother. But I was too stubborn. My father hated me, so a life of beatings and abuse hardened me. I was little better than a thug, for most of my life, eking out a living that way…
And that was what He made me, when he took me. But I was resolved to be the best I could be. I was a hunter; they ran, and I followed. I wasn’t the smartest, I wasn’t the fastest, but I didn’t stop. They rested, I found them, and I brought them to heel… one way or another. So it was, until I was freed from my Master, and set on to make my own living in the world I was taken from.
The sounds of my life are as perfect to me as any symphony. From the sweet snap of bone, breaking under my grip, to the crunch of sledgehammer on ribs, the percussion rings out. The beautiful song of a quickly silenced scream melds with the soft strains of a targets breath, stalked in the dark. But the most beautiful sounds of all, are the clink of coins, and the scratching of pen and ink on a contract.
It may not be much of a life, but it’s mine. And there is freedom in service. And there will be truer freedom in revenge.
