Tristan's Warmount
- Note: The details are subject to change as I build this character with my VST. But the basic concept - a woman who believes in hard work, in not taking shortcuts, is taken and turned into a faithful mount. This is the heart of Warland - fidelity and dependablity.

Background:
Pre-Arcadia: Claire was a good wife and mother; never to be called beautiful, but dependable. She was not the woman you married for carnal delights, but for the joy of having a dependable partner, one whom would be loyal and at your side forever. But Claire's loyalty was destroyed the night He came. He wanted a tool, something to fill a role He needed. And she was prefect.
Her capture: She remembers little of what happened, when He took her, only a beautiful, terrifying blossom, deep purple with veins of smokey black and gray. She doesn't remember when he enchanted her, or when he reshaped her into a horse, painted white with a spotted brown coat to please his eye. Her memories of her time in the Fey lands are hazy, full of the cold taste of steel, the smell of hay and the feel of wieght on her back. She remembers what He called her: "Warland. She will carry me through all the wars, in any land, for she is my faithful mount."
Her return: But she remembers stealing back to the world she had been born to; she remembers the long hunt that lathered her flanks with sweat, the bit in her teeth, the ground hard beneath her solid feet. She remembers the hounds around her legs, their bugling cries leading the Other on her back. She remembers the other riders, their laughing cries as they enjoyed the hunt. She remembers the prey, a Changeling, frozen against the walls of the Hedge, surrounded by blossoms of purple and black.
Maybe her enchantment had a gaes on it; maybe the flowers reminded her of the life stolen from her. Claire doesn't know; all she knows is that in mid-stride, she suddenly knew that she didn't owe any loyalty to the Other on her back. The stride turned into a leap and became a buck, as Warland broke her stolen loyalty in spectaular fashion.
The Other tumbled to the ground; so trusting had he been in his Warland that he was completely surprised by her betrayal. Warland raced for the Hedge, for the flowers; but mercy stopped her plunge next to the fleeing Changeling, offering the other captive a chance to leap on her back. When the hunted Changeling did, Warland plunged into the Hedge, forcing her way through, following the vien of flowers like a living breadcrumb trail.
One Changeling, a beautiful, slim creature, was first, and clung to her neck. The other, sitting behind the saddle, couldn't get a good seat and was torn from her back during their escape.
When she cleared the Hedge, she fell stumbling to her knees, catching herself on her hands in the dirt. The saddle slid around her hips and down her legs, throwing her second rider as fast as the first. The bridle hung loose around her head, the bit too big for her mouth now. She was human-shaped again, but not untouched by her time with the Fey. Her skin was now a mixture of snow white and oak brown, still colored by the whim of her Fey master, and her body, never petite was now suitable for a woman wrestler's.
