Background:

He was born Taylor Elwood in Sept. 6, 1948 to Isaac and Molly Elwood in Mill Valley, Marin County California. He was the younger of two boys. His father was an Air Force Medic whom later became one of the local doctors and his mother was a home maker and artist. He grew up in the typical 1950's Leave it to Beaver style of life. From a young age he showed a gift in medicine. In the fall 1966 he started pre-med at University of California, Berkeley. He excelled in biology and chemistry. In the summer of 1968, while vacationing at home for the summer his parents revealed that his older brother had been drafted and sent to Vietnam. They didn't want to worry him while he was in school. In early August, a week before he was due to return to school he and his family received a telegram that he his brother was killed in a Viet Cong offensive in Nha Trang. He never made it back to school.

He left college and joined the Counter-culture and Peace Movement. He drifted from city to city in a drug induced haze protesting the war and fighting for free love and mind altering drugs. While protesting in Chicago in 1969 he tripped out on some heavy drugs and woke up at an Army recruits office. It seemed that he was drafted but no one could find him. He decided to join the Army I memory of his brother or in revenge of his brother, he decided to serve. He joined the Army Medical Core and went through basic training and more training to become an Army combat medic. In early 1970 he was shipped out to Vietnam as a Staff Sergeant and was stationed at a base in Quang Duc near the Cambodian border. He went out on patrols, ambushes, incursions into Cambodia (Unofficially of course), while working at the base infirmary.

In May of 1972, during the eastern Offensive his platoon was trying to defend and take a hill. There was heavy gun fire and multiple explosions along with massive causalities. While trying to drag and treat as many soldiers as he had an altercation with his CO. However, that did not stop him for continuing to help his fallen comrades.

Things started to look dark as they could not get reinforcements or get evacuated out of the area. Then all of a sudden, Taylor saw what looked like a figure made out of bright light. At first he believed it to be an angel, he asked the angel for help. He figure asked why it should help him. He begged, saying he would do anything for the ability to help save his friends. The figured agreed and gave him the abilities. Taylor felt his knowledge of medicine as well as his abilities explode in his head. His fingers grew longer and more he had increase dexterity. But before he could treat even one of the dying the figured seems to turn dark black and laughed out loud. Taylor felt himself being dragged to the figure unable to stop himself, unable to save anyone. Before he knew it, he had been taken by the Gentry.

Over the next few weeks Taylor realized what had happened. He had asked for the ability to save others, but to be able to use it. His first few weeks he was strapped to what looked like a hospital table naked in a candle lit room. The room reminded him of the operating room from the 1900's with the large circle working area and the high stands for people to watch.
